  1. I know it is hard, you are exhausted, that is how it is for a while. The longer you keep going the easier it will get. The struggle will be on going but you will get better at handling it. I will not sugar coat it, I know it is hard as I do it every day, but I have found that if I accept it for what it is I do not struggle as much. You have got this, just keep going.
  2. @catloverMay I please have your home address, I think I should be there to help you hold and kiss those boys. I am available when there are babies involved. For anyone else out there I am also available when there are puppies involved.
  3. Good Lord, will you people just leave it alone. I eat when I want to eat. I eat what I want to eat. Sometimes I eat healthy well balanced meals, sometimes I eat trash junk foods. The thing is most of us are that way, we will eat well, healthy food when we have the energy and desire to do so. Sometimes we are so tired we just stuff in anything available. There is no need to stress about it unless it is causing a health problem. In the long run it is better to have some nacho cheese doritos than to light up a smoke. All things in moderation are okay except smoking. Please pardon me, I most go take a shot of tequila. LOL Enjoy life, that is why we quit smokingl 1
  4. I think Hank the Tank lives at my house. If it is not him, I have a dog named bear that looks the same. Have you been to Lake Tahoe @Boo one of the most beautiful places. Went in the winter so the Hub could ski, I spent most of that time on the snow on my ass. Our goal was to retire there, alas we did not make it, he passed. It still holds a special place in my heart.. New goal is to have our son spread out ashes there. I think we can get that done.
  5. Sorry, I have been away a week or so. I am happy you have joined us! The first thing I will say, is that I am sorry that you were ill and that your pregnancy was a loss. That is just a heartbreak. That does not mean it will not happen and when it does, now that you have quit, it will be so much more joyful. You will not be faced with the smoking issue, you can relax and enjoy the great gift you have been given. We are often given the signs that now is the time to quit. You have received that and accepted it with an open heart, I feel confident you will reach your goal. This time next year, I hope we will be celebrating your year smoke free and the birth of your child. We want the best for you and your future family. It is in your hands now, create what you dream, you can do it all!
  6. @LindaThey may have done that here too, so sad I do not go out to eat enough to know. I sure do live an exciting life. I don't have a clue anymore. Thanks for letting me know. It would be silly of me to ask for the no smoking section to avoid a wait when there was no such thing. I am trying to take advice, get out there and quit living in a bubble. This may be harder than I thought, I am still going to try even if I do fall flat on my face. It won't be the first time and not the last. LOL
  7. another night of sleeping escapes me, I am headed off to bed. I hope for a good few hours of sleep. If that happens, I am going to take myself out for some good tex-mex or seafood. We all need a treat every now and then. It is so fun now when they ask smoking or nonsmoking. I don't mind waiting, not a problem anymore.
  8. I will agree that after we quit we are forced to deal with a lot of different emotions. Things that we never had to confront are now in the path, they can throw us off course if we let them. So now we have to deal with it. We have to have good, productive discussions with the people in our lives. There is no hiding of our feelings. That means we can't blame our smoking on anyone else. The sooner we do this, accept it is our problem, no one else is responsible. It is very important that we do not let our emotions do not give us leave to hurt others.

    COPD and Smoking

@jillar I know that you would have quit if you had known you were in trouble. It is a great thing that insurance will now cover chest cat scan as part of a yearly physically. I would not have quit without that test. Some how we have got to make sure the younger members of not just the board but society realize that their health is gong to suffer if they continue to smoke. The sooner they quit it will be easier to do and may prevent issues with their health when they get older. Most of us knew that smoking could lead to health issues but we continued to do it, not to listen. Now many of us face things that we made possible. There is no one to blame, we put those things in our mouths and set them on fire, inhaled the fumes like liquid gold. Are any of us richer by making that decision. No, we are facing the fact we let some money hungry corporations take not only our money but our health. We can not change it now but we can try to help the generations that come after us. It is happening but too slowly. Now they have decided a new way to get rich off the younger generations, vaping. It is just another way to promote addiction to fill the corporate pockets. Another way to destroy the health and lives of our young people. They want us to think that it is a safe way to smoke. No, I have not done all the research, just coming from an old time nicotine addict who has finally seen the light.
  10. You have people. We have all been there, we have baby proofed our lives. We have been sullen teenagers that pouted thru being grounded. We have been angry, depressed and exhausted humans. In all those hard things, we have to realize we have been given the chance to start over. Growing up the first time was easy, this time it is hard. At least we are adults and understand the challenge.
  11. It may not be a virus but don't assume the worst. I think we all get anxious when we don't feel well. I have done that many times. Just advocate for your own care. Don't accept below the care you need. Just a pinched nerve in your neck can cause the muscle weakness in your body. The important thing is to find out what is causing the problem, fix it or get the right medication to help you feel better. You will be in my prayers!!
  12. Happy Birthday!! Hope you know how much you mean to thousands of strangers!! Since you were 58 last year, or so you thought, you get to pick what age you want to be this year. I recommend 29, young enough to enjoy everything and old enough to know better.
  13. Don't get wrong I eat it but I do mix it in to other foods. Eggs, casseroles, pasta and soups and salads. I just have to hide it, I grew up with a Mom that cooked it done to mush. @Boo, you are doing it the right way, slowly introducing new foods. You never know until to you try it. My son, around 4 or five, learned to go around dinners out or with family, are asking can I try that, or you going to eat that. I think the only things he will not eat now are things he is allergic to.
  14. Have you ever been charged by a black rhino in the dark of night and knocked to the ground? Well I have, wearing a hot pink robe and my underwear only! The only thing that ran through my mind as I was falling is this is going to shock the neighbors. I knew I was going down and did a kind of side step. I was lucky to fall in the grass and not on the concrete patio. What did I learn? That dog will just have to pee in the house the next time!!
  15. I am shaking my butt in excitement, mind you not twerking. You would not like seeing either one. I will send a message on your behalf to Kim Kardashian (or who ever she calls herself now)
  16. @JustinHoot99 You have more control than most. For instance, I would have bought junk food. You chose spinach! How fantastic is that. That takes commitment. Just look at smoking the same way. You have already done the hard part. Now it is just behavior thing, we all have to change our mindset. That first part is really hard because we are addicted. The second part, to change how we think takes some time. We just have to take it a day at a time. I am still not there yet but I know we can get there.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
