  1. No stains on teeth! No running to get smokes! No more burning in my throat when I get a bad drag or a bad fag! No standing outside in the rain to get a nicotine fix! yay Hatin dem 20 xtra pounds tho!!
  2. Congratulations on close to 3 months quit Andrew! I have had a little sinus thing too post quit...I think it was allergies and needing to hydrate more. I'm basically all good now. Yours will pass too.
  3. Yes, totally romancing the cigarette! When I do that , I remind myself of the 9,999 other cigarettes that go with it and if I wanna smoke them too. Your eyes will thank you for keeping your resolve to stay smoke free! NTAP!
  4. So many things! Most present in my mind right now is the freedom from thinking about it all the time in some way or another...either actively using or looking at smoking gear and ashtrays...or smelling the stench in the car, or being paranoid I stink! Being constantly preoccupied with an addiction seriously impedes the personal growth. I am just starting to fully realize how much space in my mind the smoking was occupying. Wow!
  5. Congratulations on over 100 days smoke free, Tyler! Glad you made good use of the patch. Hooray for getting off the nicotine at last. You are basically home free just let your mind adjust to being nicotine free. It gets easier every day.

  8. Go Guttie!!! You got this!
  9. Hooray Sunshine!! Congratulations on 7 months smoke free!!
  10. Welcome to the Train AK 47! Congratulations on staying off the smokes for almost two weeks! Hope you quit again real soon! You can do it! Don't wait another 10 years cuz you will regret it! Analyze why you started up again and make a plan to prevent that from happening again. Then give it another go ! Rinse repeat until you stay quit...bam!

    Thanks Jillar!
  12. Exercise firms you up and slims you down...even if you don't lose any weight
  13. I wonder if air-snacking, analogous to ... I think it's Jillar's or Doreenfree's air-smoking suggestion ... would work? Just go through the motions of snacking on chips or cookies. I swear I am going to try it!
  14. I am big on freestyle home aerobics - I just turn on the music and dance around and add in some aerobic moves, isometrics, body toning moves like arm circles, leg lifts and such, running in place, air punches, some floor stretching and a little ab work. I jog outside and on a treadmill at the gym. Weird, after quitting smoking, I got so preoccupied with eating and so DEPRESSED I dropped my 14 year workout habit. 20 pounds later I am looking forward to getting back in shape. Do whatever keeps your blood pumping and your mood light!
  15. I agree with Helmet that you are an inspiration! You must be super fit!
  16. Right on, Darcy! Great job on one month smoke free! It gets easier and easier, just you wait and see. I agree with you that the not reeking part is a humungous bonus. Way to go!!

Or I could say 84! 84 days nicotine free today - yooo hooo! yippee eye eye oh yippee ay! Yay! That makes 12 weeks which is the longest all my research came up with concerning how long it takes for the brain dopamine to get back to normal, i.e. for the post-nicotine depression to go away. Today is my deadline day to be happy again, start moving again and get to blasting off the 20 pounds I have gained since quitting! Won't be hard with spring here and all. I feel great and thankful I could finally lay them cigarettes down! Twelve weeks nicotine-free. Wow...I haven't gone that long since I became a smoker at age 14! Thanks to everyone here for being such an inspiration and a wealth of information and support for me and all who need it. Great people on this Train! 12! Yippee!!!
  19. Count your blessings and praise your God! Not everything has to be hard. Yes just be wary of the sneak attacks and you will do just great!
  20. Hoorayyy!!!!! Way to get free, Sailor!!!!
  21. I think that's one of Joel Spitzer's best videos, "Whatever you do don't quit cold turkey." It was John R Polito's Freedom from Nicotine ebook posted on the Whyquit website that got me thinking seriously about just going cold. That was my intro to Joel Spitzer!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
