"Just one rule - “No nicotine today!”
Lin-quitting replied to Aine's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
That was interesting reading. I'm gonna need information like this for a while to come. To remind me that I'm "normal" now, and that any smoking I might start wouldn't give me anything like the sensations (the sensations of temporarily relieving the addiction for a very very short while!) I'm remembering (aka, don't romance the damn smoking!). The only way to re-live that satisfaction would be to return to being a full-blown addict. And that it would only take one puff, one cig, to start that process back to it's full-blown conclusion. Wanna go back there Lin?!!! Wanna go back to being a slave again?!!! I didn't think so. Thanks Sazerak. -
I am very proud of you gitw, for reaching 5 months of freedom - as I hope you are proud of yourself. Now keep up the great work you're doing! Onward and upward and no giving in or letting go - you are going to be free! Congratulations.

I'm grateful that you've shared with us Shane. And sharing what you're going through helps you and helps us too. k It really resonated with me, your saying how you're sick and tired of the struggle. Yep, I sure do remember those days. I didn't have anxiety, but I sure was angry about the whole thing. (You know, other people get to smoke, why can't I? It took me a lot of reading to learn how stupid this thinking was. I still have bouts of it. ) And it's so tiring, always thinking about NOT SMOKING. I think it's wonderful that you're focusing on how nice it is being a nonsmoker for your grandkids - what better reason could there be?! It's worth it Shane, it surely is. Being free of the slavery is awesome. You're doing great with having 10 weeks under your belt - keep up the great work!

Lin-quitting replied to Opah's topic in Introductions & About Us
Welcome back Opah. I can't tell you how happy I am to see you start this quit! And I KNOW you can do this. I spent months looking forward to us celebrating our year quitaversaries together; now by golly you can't deprive me again of celebrating yours, even if it will be a little late! I'm marking my calendar for March 23 2019 for a big blowout. Be there for me, okay? Remember the SOS system, you know it works. We're here for you. -
That is just fantastic Albert! Be proud of your 3-month accomplishment today.....and then keep up your great work! Congratulations.

What Beazel said. ^^^ Hoping you wake up in the morning feeling better, with your resolve back, and knowing that today was just the addiction trying once again to get its tentacles in you.

I applaud your taste Nancy. The Greatest Showman was the best new movie I've seen in years! I loved it! The music and the dancing (that "dancing in the air" segment.....swoon!) was epic. -
Grund!!! Seven months quit is fantastic work! I hope you celebrate your hard work today.....and congratulations.

Despair Not Reaches The Lido Deck Today!!
Lin-quitting replied to Reciprocity's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
What a fantastic accomplishment Despair Not!!! And not only have you achieved your first year of smoke free living, you've done it while being such a help and support to the rest of us along the way. I can't tell you how much I've appreciated you this past year. Celebrate big today, you've earned it! Congratulations! -
For what it's worth, my experience: I stayed on the Chantix for 3 1/2 months. I weaned off the med my last 3 weeks, taking half dosages. I agree that weaning down the dosage is the way to do it. But it was hard for me, being off the Chantix when I finished. My months 4 and 5 it was MUCH harder for me to be disciplined than the first 3 months while on the med. (I agree with Barry, I think Chantix is a miracle drug for quitting, and I don't think I could have done it without the stuff.) So I would say, if you feel strong and confident in your quit then go ahead and wean down and quit the med. But if there's any doubt for you then I would stay on it another 3 months (assuming you have no complicating side effects). Better safe than sorry, it seems to me. It's still early in your quit, you have plenty of time to get off the Chantix. Either way I know you can be successful Roopy. Let us know how it goes.....
