  1. Welcome DV. If the thought of smoking just one creeps into your brain, just think of the consequences and the misery it renders: Congrats on 11 days!
  2. Heading into the harbor to pick you up. Won’t be long now MD. Congratulations!
  3. Although the Chicks have an insurmountable lead, it's good to see the Sticks pull off an occasional victory. Wishing your growing family health and happiness.
  4. Congratulations Mollie. Well done.
  5. Oh crap. Please don’t tell me it’s starting here.
  6. Welcome Rose. Glad to have you aboard. I hope you make this your forever quit.
  7. More hiking over the weekend
  8. Despite temps of about 90 degrees, managed to hike 8.75 miles to a summit of just over 1000 feet yesterday. Swam laps today.
  9. Rasdaan If you are still looking at this thread, I hope you will ignore the ignorance of the response from Jetblack. Work with your doctor to determine if depression/anxiety meds need to be used or adjusted for your quit. Also discuss NRT options while considering cold turkey. In the long run, quitting smoking will have positive effects on your overall health and may actually help your mental health too. You can do it.
  10. Boo The signs are everywhere. Smoking has serious and deadly consequences. That fact can only be ignored so long. The only reasonable countermeasure is to quit and stay quit. Period. Wishing a positive outcome for your dad.
  11. 21,417 cigarettes up in flames and not in R J Reynolds bank account.
  12. Congrats Jo! Sometime this month your circulation should improve and your blue feet will return to normal.
  13. That's great Barry. Be sure to celebrate the hundred and sixty-five that you've already put to bed.
  14. Camped in Joshua Tree National Park over the weekend. Did some great hiking Saturday and some awesome rock climbing yesterday. My hands are feeling it today.
  15. Sslip I only read the 1st 2 paragraphs, but I wanted to congratulate you on your 10 weeks of freedom. Just kidding. I read your whole post. Thanks for sharing your story. For many, there's a period where you feel less healthy than when you were smoking. But you have to believe that the benefits will eventually completely outweigh any initial setbacks. You're doing it right. Pledging NOPE, reading posts, and now sharing your experiences. That will help both you and others. Keep it up. It can be a battle, but it's a battle worth fighting.
  16. Welcome back Opah. You've learned from the fact that there is no "just one". Time to put it behind you and move forward to freedom. KTQ
  17. Kudos KT. 6 months is a biggie.
  18. Well done Albert. Pat yourself on the back.
  19. NOPE Going camping in Joshua Tree National Park this weekend. I prefer to breathe fresh air over deadly smoke any day.
  20. Fab I completely understand your frustration in thinking that after so many days you can still be blindsided by strong cravings. In all honesty, I remember asking many of my friends who quit before me how I could still be having difficulties after (blank) # of days. There just isn't a definitive answer to that question. All I can say is that when those random but powerful cravings did pop up, I would come to the forum and read, post, and pledge NOPE. And by the way, without being able to pinpoint an exact day, there did come a time when I completely stopped craving cigarettes. Freedom is a gradual process. When it prevails, there is no more meaningful blessing that can be bestowed upon you. Keep it going Fab.
  21. Hi Jryan. It’s really true that there’s so much to be grateful for once you know that you’re done with smoking. I too used exercise as the main “distraction” to fill void that smoking once occupied. What a wonderful difference that’s made. Glad to see you’ve found your way here. Your encouragement for others will be most welcome. Congratulations on your soon to be 2 year anniversary. I found that there was a huge and sudden drop off of any misguided cravings at that point. Hope it’s the same for you.
  22. Great job Seren! You made it past that horrible first week and are well on your way to week 2. Keep it up!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
