  1. Enjoy your newfound freedom Lilly.
  2. I did notice an old man today wearing shorts, black dress socks, and a pair of brown Crocs. I'm not going to laugh at his fashion sense. In fact, I admire the fact that he's reached that point in his life where he simply doesn't give a damn about fashion and trends. You do you random old guy.
  3. Three cheers for Ol' Ozzie Looney-Bird! I still don't know what the hell she's talking about half the time, but she's good people.
  4. I was unavoidably detained doing very important stuff, but I'm back now. On the other hand...I've got a long weekend off of work coming up so I may go missing again.
  5. Good job D1.
  6. Congratulations on eight months of freedom Christa.
  7. Just for you Doreen...
  8. Have a good trip. Tell Orville and Wilbur I said "yaw good".
  9. Sorry about your brother Jimmy. Thanks for giving another reminder of the real cost of smoking. Best wishes to you and your family.
  10. Great job Claire. Freedom ages like wine. Savor the flavor.
  11. Quitting is a struggle. However, it gets easier with time and your effort will be rewarded many times over. Continuing to smoke is also a struggle. Smoking demands that you plan your life around it, the cycle never ends so long as you continue to smoke, and there are no rewards...smoking only takes without giving anything in return. The choice is obvious.
  12. Yep. Just north of Chattanooga. Nice little community nestled between Mowbray Mountain and the Tennessee River.
  13. Still working out daily. It's just that I've limited the lifts that I do to six basic moves: Front Squats, Deadlifts, Overhead Press, Bench Press, High-Box Step-Ups, and Farmer's Walks. I wanted to focus on getting better at the lifts that deliver the most benefits. On the days I don't lift, I run. Preferably I run on one of the trails near my house, but I have been doing some of my running at a local park and college campus down by the river. I didn't give up the healthy lifestyle. It just felt like daily updates were going to be very repetitive right now.
  14. One of the most important books I ever read. Exposed the myths surrounding smoking and made the lies we told ourselves as smokers impossible to defend anymore.
  15. Sounds a lot like my situation. The company I work for opened a new facility 20 miles north of downtown Chattanooga. Now my daily commute consists of driving between Dayton, Tennessee and Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. Traffic jams are not a big part of my life anymore.

    Hit and Run

The Cubs put together a weird one for April Fool's Day. It is unrealistic to think that the Cubs will commit six errors again tonight, but it certainly helped the cause in Atlanta. Best wishes going out to Bobby Cox tonight. Get well soon Skipper.

I've been criticizing the Braves front office a lot lately, justifiably so. However, the move to extend Ronald Acuna's contract was a great deal. They put together a plan that satisfied Acuna and ensured that the Braves have one of the brightest young stars of the game throughout the prime years of his career. And comparable to other deals that have been made lately, the extension looks like a bargain. https://www.ajc.com/sports/baseball/braves-sign-ronald-acuna-year-extension-with-two-club-options/VLXz3w6DlkAG8CbKRPSnmK/
  18. Good job Meathead.
  19. My life became less stressful when I vowed to not take anything that happens in traffic personally and quit reacting to all the idiocy I see on the roadways every day. My reaction to stupid drivers now is pretty much limited to me grumbling something along the lines of: "what the....you f***ing idiot." Then a deep breath and move on. I used to do the whole "road rage" thing. It's pointless, dangerous, and a real waste of energy. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
  20. Sorry to hear about what you're dealing with stzr500. There never seems to be any clear cut answers in a situation like this, only more questions. Good job on keeping your quit intact. Stay strong.
  21. Great job Linda. Double thumbs-up to compensate for previous missed celebrations...
  22. Stewie. Mr. Titwank. BiggusDickus...a good lad by any name. Pop in and say "hey" if you get a chance. You'll always have a seat on this Train.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
