July 22, 201610 yr I am well and regaining my health. Three years ago began quite a process. I started CPAP treatment for my sleep apnea this year; I was getting no deep sleep every night. This was taking my life slowly like cigarettes. Now I wake up well rested every morning. I have lost 24 pounds and I am below my pre-quit weight. I eat better and walk for a mile 4 times a week along with using the exercise machines. Babs advice, “Don’t drink calories” has been helpful. So even though there is less of me, I believe what remains is of higher quality. In a show of solidarity, my hair continues to thin as well. Janet723 has now had her shoulder replacement repaired (should have gotten the extended warranty) so she has her own improvement program. All three cats are well and are seeking sunshine, or food, or a nap, or some combination of these. To my existing hobbies of sausage making and meat curing, gardening, canning, and brewing I have now added pizza making. I have also taken two classes on whole hog butchery (with money I didn’t waste on cigarettes). I have bought a new dark blue Honda CR-V; I like to think of it as “Chariot of Paul”. If you see me driving around please wave. The members of the QuitTrain are superheroes. Not leap over tall buildings types, just everyday ones that have saved themselves from the slavery of smoking and help others to do the same. Remember to do your superhero pose on a regular basis. If someone who hasn’t quit comes across this post, here are two of my favorite quotes: Soberjulie If you are lurking....don't wait. Don't wait one more god damned minute. The momentary discomfort is worth the lifetime of freedom.Do it. Paul723 Jump. Train Music! The chicks can dance to this I think. July 22, 201610 yr Great post Paul. Congratulations. Another testament of how much better life is when we break the shackles of addiction. "The momentary discomfort is worth the lifetime of freedom." Damn straight.
