April 7, 201412 yr Well, letting you all know I am going to be out of here for quite a while. Not sure if returning or not. My quit has always been strong so I am not worried about that. When you quit, you quit, no reason to dwell on it to make it worse for yourself. My post and songs don't do so well with responses but no big problem there. I left the other group for good when I came here but for some reason it just seems too social for me with postings that I can't makes sense of. The last straw though was seeing over here continued postings about dipping toothbrushes in toilet. Has to be one of the most purposly unsanitized things I've heard that can cause mouth diseases to another human and I don't want to be associated with it. That's just me though............Bassman
April 7, 201412 yr bassman this is sad to read this is a new site and is in its infancy stage newbies are just starting to come through the door the members that came across are just so relieved to be away from the fighting, you know things will find its level you just have to give it a chance ps we love your songs!!!
April 7, 201412 yr Bassman! I don't usually respond to posts about leaving, but you are different. The toothbrush reference was a joke when Julie was in the the first couple days of her quit. I highly doubt anyone would really do that or encourage any one to put a toothbrush in a toilet. Yes, the board is about quitting but we are not just former smokers, we are social beings and a lot of us are just getting to know one another for the first time. Hanging out in social is a source of distraction for a lot of people too. I for one, love your music. I hope you will reconsider.
April 7, 201412 yr Oh gosh! I feel terrible. Bassman, I don't really dip toothbrushes in the toilet :( It's just a silly visual to keep me from blowing my top at times of stress.
April 8, 201412 yr come on bassman you are a very important part of this new forum MQ even dedicated a whole thread for your songs I thought that was pretty awesome and i told him so in a PM I think you underestimated how much you are valued here, sometimes we dont say it enough but it doesnt mean we dont think it, please reconsider lots of newbies are going to come through this door xx
April 8, 201412 yr And I also want to add: I have the upmost respect for your music and your willingness to share it. I think it's wonderful that you've embraced a healthy outlet while walking your quit journey. Again, my deepest apologies for the misunderstanding in regards to any toothbrush comments. I'm quite embarrassed that I may not have made it clear that I don't 'really' dip hubby's toothbrush. Ohmy. I kiss him! Lol It's just a virtual toothbrush dip. :(
April 8, 201412 yr Bassman, I love your music as well. I hope that you will stay. This is a new board so I know that there may not be an explosion of responses at first...but I remember that you have made posts and helped me in the early days of my quit that made me not smoke! I hope that you will reconsider because you have so much to offer to this board...your music and your experiences. You are a role model to people like me and an inspiration to all newbies. You are an extremely talented artist and I would love to see more of your work here. Having said that...I am very happy to hear that you are so comfortable in you quit. I wish only the best for you in the future and I hope to be able to read about your successes...if only occasionally.... Do what's right for you , Bassman. But know that you are wanted and appreciated here.
April 8, 201412 yr I have to agree with all the above. Please don't leave as I really enjoy your music and songs!
April 8, 201412 yr Bassman don't leave. We love your music. I know I do. I find it chill and and lovely to listen to. People are silly and make jokes I don't even understand them all. I just go on about my business when I don't. There are newbies here now and you have a lot to offer them. Please reconsider. I know we would all miss you so.
April 8, 201412 yr Bassman, you have your owned pinned thread in the music section! I wish i had my cat thread pinned! :)
April 8, 201412 yr I hope you reconsider. I love listening to the songs, I even played them for my hb. We know you work hard on them and we so appreciate them! Won't be the same without you. Come on back anytime, whether it's in the next hour or next year. We'll be here waiting for you :)
April 8, 201412 yr I am sorry about this Bassman. This is a community and it's important to have a social section. Otherwise, you won't have many people hanging around just waiting for someone to post an SOS or for a newbie to arrive for us to welcome. The social section keeps everyone hanging around..which is what makes this site so successful..and I couldn't be prouder to be a part of it. Bassman, that I have loved your quit from the very beginning. Your attitude has been awesome, your songs amazing, and you have provided such warmth and kindness while supporting others. I am happy to have known you. I won't say goodbye...only "see ya" because I think you will be back to visit with a little tune.. :) Take care Bassman...and protect that quit!
April 8, 201412 yr As soon as I saw this thread (I moved it here from social), I sent Bassman a PM and told him that he's welcome anytime he wants to return and he will be missed and not just because of his music, but for who he is. I hope he returns because helping people quit is far more important than anything else. As much as we enjoy his music, his advice and wisdom about the dangers of smoking and his enthusiasm to help others is what we benefited most from.
April 8, 201412 yr Didn't take you as the sensative musician type. One of those loner band boys who is shy? Or aloof? Or too busy maybe. But you are good with your quit is nice I will still recommend a year with at least one site. The people who put in the year are pretty much sure to make it. Also you need to pay it forward. Just karma. You can sing and strum a few lines anytime. But newbies need others close to them. Old bags like me remember but not as clear as you. Get back and put in your time soldier. This is cake compared to the west Germany duty we pulled.
April 8, 201412 yr I don't know you that much Bassman, haven't had the chance to get to know you very well :(
April 8, 201412 yr Hey Bassman. I was sorry to read your post. I think the site here is just getting going. While the guys were working on getting the listings cracked - there was lots of idle chat. The toothbrush joke is a gag - and it helps break tension. Actually it's not idle - as the the posts help generate 'noise' that help with listings. I'm sure that you will have noticed yesterday - we had some newbies arrive - and a SOS. It is now the time when the old hands with strong quits are truly needed - to help support the people that need it. Bassman - you are your own man, and must do what is right for your quit - but I hope that you can reconsider and keep adding to the catalogue. Best - El B
April 8, 201412 yr Pretty sad though that he removed all the videos so they can't be played. I don't understand it. I know we can all read things that we go "uh what?!" Like the toothbrush thing I guess. We all have a different sense of humor I just wish when someone read something that didn't sit right with them they would at least ask the person even in a pm if they want to clarify what was meant by it. Rather then stewing a couple days and then taking your ball (or guitar) and going home. I'll miss him.
April 8, 201412 yr People will come and go. That's how it works. Sad but we can't all fit on the little bus without some seats having three in it. Someone bound to get irritated.
April 8, 201412 yr I sincerely hope that Bassman will come back - he has been part of my quit since I started posting. Music is an important way of reaching people (i just have to be careful what I open in the office!) But - I guess he has to do what is right for him.
April 8, 201412 yr I love your songs and admire your talent. I could never help with the "wording" because I have a wicked sense of humor. I can't sing at all....but I started singing out loud after I quit smoking and one might think you could have something to do with it :-) I can't wait to have the windows open in my workshop, let's see how much the neighbors really like me lol
April 9, 201412 yr Bassman, hate to see you go but you are going to do what is right for you! Do not be a strainger, you can always stop in and say hi!
