June 9, 201412 yr wow tomorrow is going to be a week already! I am doing pretty good. The cravings come and go, but I think I'm doing a pretty good job of ignoring them. Sometimes it is easier to ignore than others, but it is what it is and I'm prepared to have that battle forever! Thank you all for the support, it has helped sooo much!! :)
June 9, 201412 yr ...I think I'm doing a pretty good job of ignoring them. Ignore them and they will go away. One day, soon[1], they will go away forever and never come back [2] . When a crave hits, it's a simple case of mind over matter: Easy Peasy [1] Sooner than you think. [2] The Sarge hasn't had what he'd consider a "crave" in almost 2 years now.
June 9, 201412 yr Good job, Brittany! In the beginning of my quit when someone who had been quit longer said it would get better, I wondered if it was true. Since I didn't know, I had to trust them and believe me, they knew what they were talking about! So just trust us, it will get better (and before you know it)!!
June 9, 201412 yr You have done brilliant Brittany!! No words of wisdom as I just hung in there lol, you just hang on and wait for better days I think. So chuffed for you, that almost a week is a powerful time for self pride - you deserve to be free. x
June 9, 201412 yr Awesome job... stay on your toes and keep your guard up... it only gets easier from here. Be proud of yourself.... very proud. Keep on keepin on.
June 9, 201412 yr Well done misses, you should be soo soo proud of yourself, the hardest ever week done and dusted, fab stuff, Sarge hope you have Brittanys first stripe ready for her ;)
June 9, 201412 yr Brittany you are doing fantastic, In the early days of my quit I was so envious of anyone who said it would get better, I used to think Huh what do they really know, they have no idea what I am going through!! but do you know something, they were all right every single one of them, it does get easier it does get better it is so worth staying strong and getting past every crave, the crave will not hurt you, but if you give in to it it will hurt you badly it will take you back to being an addict again, stay strong Brittany you got this xx
June 9, 201412 yr Way to go Brittany...I didnt see this post and sent a PM to find out how you have been getting along...I hadn't seen anything from you....sorry, you can ignore that...lol Yes a week is great !! As you can see from the responses, we are happy for you also..we know its a journey and want to help if you need us to :) Before you know it, you will be posting 1 month...until then...1 day at a time
June 9, 201412 yr Yahooooo for you Brittany! One week ago you sounded scared and was worried if you were going to be able to do this! Now look at you sounding with some authority, " I'm doing a pretty good job at ignoring them" You have come farther than thousands before you, you did something they could not do, QUIT!!!! Congratulations!
June 10, 201412 yr Wowser! You have done what we all feared we could NEVER do. You haven't smoked for a week!! And you lived to tell the tale. Very well done to you. Very proud of you, you are doing so good.
June 10, 201412 yr Week one in the bag - next week is overall easier except for the one or two really freaky wanna smoke waves that come out of the blue. What worked for me was saying I didn't want to go back to smoking full time so I just didn't light up the first one. Good job.
June 10, 201412 yr Great job Brittany - doing great and love how you are staying close to the board. The good things about craves - is each one you successfully face down makes you stronger - so how awesome does that make you ?
June 10, 201412 yr Great stuff Brittany. I found each week got a little easier. There are still some moments, but as you say, you just ignore them. Huge congratulations on Week 1. Fantastic work. one keep on keeping on!
June 10, 201412 yr Nice work.....take it steady.....day by day......this is how it's done for us all Hugs
June 10, 201412 yr Congrats on your 1st week of freedom.... i hope for many many more, and know you are winning this addiction one day at a time! High 5 girl!!
June 11, 201412 yr Hey Brittany! Congrats on one week. :D That's awesome! Believe it or not, but eventually, you'll get to a point in your quit where you forget you even smoked. Keep that in mind throughout your quit journey! You're doing great. Keep it up, stay close to the board, and post as often as you'd like!
June 11, 201412 yr Way to keep after it, Brittany. This has success written all over it. How are you feeling now that you have the worst of it in the bag?
June 12, 201412 yr By the way, it's not all unicorns farting rainbows, it's going to get weird and unpleasant for a couple of weeks more, this is normal, it won't be fun, but just keep in mind why you're quitting and it'll be (in the words of the Sarge) Easy Peasy.
