Beautiful pic of your goddaughter oldy, thank you for sharing....

Thanks @Doreensfree but it wasn't scary. Just a little one so no damage. It was like hearing (and feeling) two sonic booms

Says it was a 3.3 magnitude so a little one

Didn't notice the ground moving @notsmokinjo But it did shake all our windows

We just had an earthquake in Orcutt! And the aftershock was just as strong! We haven't had one here in years so it was pretty exciting and trippy at the same time ?

Hi oldy, I know how the death of a parent can bring you down around thei anniversary of it. My dad died on Valentines day 2002. For years I didn't buy my husband not even a card as I didn't' see it as anything but the day my dad died. Your mum's death, especially around Christmas is still pretty new and I can understand how when it comes around it's like it just happened all over again ? Venting on here, posting and participating is a great way to get things off your chest. If you don't feel like your quit is in jeopardy we have an Off the Record board that you can post on. Our socializing board has lots of good topics too. Oh and if you're looking for distractions from smoking posts, those two boards and the games board have lots to keep you occupied I'm glad you're spending time with the kids, it must be such a help to their dad. Try to have a Merry Christmas and we'll be here if you need us. xoxo

Hello there! I'm Lia ( just joined and seeking advice)
jillar replied to Lia's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
Welcome Lia and congratulations on deciding to quit this nasty addiction. I didn't pick a quit date but knew it was time to quit so one thing I did in preparation was to quit smoking in the place I normally smoked. Which for me was my garage. This totally helped me disassociate that area with smoking and I wouldn't get a crave when I was in there after I quit. Maybe start doing that? -
Oh hell no, false, never going to happen. EVER! TNP has eaten alligator meat

Hope things will change, I can't do crowds it drives me batty Facial hair or clean shaven

Hey oldy, with all that going on its to be expected. You're overwhelmed! But smoking isn't going to change any of that and you know it. Why would you give up that beautiful one year quit only to find that nothing got better because you smoked? Even never smokers would be overwhelmed by the things you have and are going through right now. I'm confident because you posted, that you will not smoke and lose your quit. If you really wanted to smoke you would have never posted this. I'm truly sorry for all the stuff you're dealing with and the death of your goddaughter. Maybe you could spend extra time with her kids, it might be just what you need to feel better?

Congratulations @Oldybutmouldy on one year quit! You must be so proud of yourself I hope you do something special to celebrate this huge milestone!

Don't be disappointed Kate, we smoked for a lot of years and it's going to take more than just ten days to undo all the triggers associated with smoking. That's why we have this SOS board. Use it as much as you need to keep that awesome quit you have going. You are doing great, and we will be here for you every step of the way

I can count on my hand the number of times...……….

Kate one thing I used when bad craves hit in the beginning was my air cigarette. I just pretended I was holding a cigarette in my fingers and then went through the motions of "smoking" it. It really helped trick my brain into thinking it was getting the real thing and the craving would pass. Some use cut straws or pens, etc. Maybe try that?

Congratulations on four months of freedom MLMR!
-
Hang in there Kate, what you are going through is totally normal for where you are in your quit. The first month is by far the hardest and especially those first three weeks. So go easy on yourself and I promise it will get better and you will be back to loving just sitting and thinking again

Ugh, speak my mind and then have everyone mad at me lol Stick up for someone or stay out of it
