  1. Morning lovely fellow NOPErs... still on my men's health week band wagon... so we have touched the balls and reminded you about the importance of health and prostrate checks and they are important people (chicks you should be naggin ya fellas) but we also need to touch on emotional and mental health... for some stupid reason society tells blokes to man up and that real men don't ask for help, or say somethings wrong.. 1 in 4 men experience depression and male depression is on the rise. Depression is not a weakness. So here is my first message on this important mens health issue...Real Men Cry and Real Men Ask For Help. So to a world where men can't express their feeling or ask for help and lungs full of smoke and tar I say: NOPE ... not today, not tomorrow, not ever - forever! Topic of the day: Cover Songs (for now)

  7. @Wee fluffy me don't ever put any in ya garden... my mum planted it in dad's veggie patch 25 years ago and he's still digging it out and every spring it frickin comes back....
  8. That is so cool.... cos I'm a music girl, what do you play, what does hubby play, do you sing too..... that is an awesome way to give back and sounds like so much fun. So @beazel you sly devil with the hidden talents, you say its not your sort of music... what is your sort of music?? My little one goes to one of our nursing homes once a week and has a little old lady read to her... but really they just gossip about all the other little old ladies and gents and listen to dean martin and frank sinatra cds and the kid smuggles her mills and boons book.
  9. 12 .... morning to the north americans.... arvo to the britskies .....middle of the night morning to me
  10. OK.... first not my place to judge... and while I don't use weed now (and its not legal in Aus, so if metadata gathering law enforcement types are screening this I wouldn't do that) I have in the past. When I did smoke it I never cut it so its not something I'd be tempted to do now BUT most of my mates who do smoke it do cut it so for me and my quit its a no no.... but that is me and mine... not you and yours... read what jillar said above. I firmly believe in horses for courses... if that worked for you and you are happy with it then that is it. I know we have some members here who smoke dope, and some why use it as a favoured cooking herb... as long as its not making you a bad person i'm ambivalent.... do it, don't do it.... all good to me, doesn't change my opinion of you.
  11. Numb - LANKS (cover Hayden James)
  12. We never got jelly belly drinks here... although cherry blurgh... not a fan of cherry... fresh cherries are OK but the others not so much. X.... hmmm.... XXX Mints
  13. whoops, probably cos I got side tracked and didn't post the SWITCHEROO post it was still sitting in my edit box... so its a two-up tuesday on the H..... and @Sslip your back up to bat... maybe some of the music thread boys will come and play with this one. Yep thats you @johnny5, @Boo & Lord @Whispers the Hood.. SWITCHEROO... SWITCHEROO.... and we will be staying with this until I have posted what I want to post....so ya best be liking cover songs... As I am hopeful of some new players here's the rules, well its pretty simple, answers have to be in alphabetical order, so the one before this was a P... this is a Q... so next should be R.... rule exemptions: * A, The, Mr, Mrs, Miss, Ms are invisible words and don't so you use the first letter of the word after it. * If songs is the theme, you can either have the first letter of the song title OR the first letter of the band name OR the first letter of either the first name or surname of the artist. * SLOX applies, that's Sslips Law Of X... its algebra, x='a number' ... so you can use a number instead of x * double posts both count... its bad luck to switch ya answer, cos i said so, and you just keep going. * new rules can be invented at anytime Special rule for covers: you can use the original artist's letter to make it fit. Hold On - Angus Stone (covers Alabama Shakes)
  14. Congratulations @barry for being 8 months smoke free. well done Barry on an awesome quit, you are going so well, 8 months is so strong. I know life and work keep you very busy but please make sure to do something special to celebrate and spoil yourself, if anyone deserves it you do.

  16. Viva La NOPE !!! Great post Givvy... and we have welcomed lots of newbies and re-ups in the past couple of days so this post is perfectly timed. For everyone just starting out, as bad as it might seem it is going to get so much better. I've clawed my way to the 6 month mark with a daily NOPE and a daily promise to myself and to everyone here who has held my hand and propped me up and pushed me along when I have needed it that for the next 24hours I will not smoke... i only have to focus on the next 24 hours... nothing beyond that. NOPE isn't for everyone, some of us don't need or use it but for those of us who do it is a vital tool in our arsenal to be rid of this addiction. So every morning I quit for 24hours... that's it... I quit for just 24 hours, no more, no less... and every day those 24 hours have got easier and easier than the one before. So just NOPE and promise yourself you wont smoke for the day... then in the morning NOPE again... and repeat.... it is amazing how powerful that little promise to yourself made infront of and with all your peers can be... You can do this.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
