Rewards can take many forms. Listening to a favorite piece of music, recalling a sweet memory...looking at something of beauty. Small things that bring you Joy. I rewarded myself with big beautiful breaths....oxygen was my new drug. Glad you feel better. Stay focused. Stay close also, there will be more folks around giving you support. I celebrate you beating every damn crave, every trigger... and will be delighted when the poison hits the trash.

You are welcome ! All the reasons for keeping it are voices of the addict that you must identify and refute. You don't smoke anymore. Congratulations on your 8 day quit ! Protect it and realize your precious freedom.

Hello ! Trash it ! Get rid of your vape and anything else related to smoking ! You QUIT and have no further use of it. Why give it to someone else so they can injure and addict themselves ?

Does Brain Ever Fully Recover From Nicotine?
Sazerac replied to Angeleek's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
I started smoking at 13, I think, and hardly remember what it felt like before that. My life was all about smoking. I smoked everywhere, anywhere. All the time. This was my life for 40 some odd years. I have been quit for nearly seven years now and haven't had a crave or a trigger in six of those years. The first year had some challenges where NOPE, my commitment to myself kept me Free. I knew in my heart of hearts I would not smoke again but, there were temptations to address. After that, I stayed current with myself by renewing my commitment to NOPE every morning and thanking myself for staying free each night. I maintain this vigilance. It is not a burden, it is etched into my consciousness. Here are some resources that address your issues, Being An Addict For The Rest Of Your Life The Differences Between Physical and Psychological Urges Craves Or Triggers That Occur Over Time -
There is a lot of denial you need to work through here. Just because you haven't had any health problems that you can see, if you educate yourself of the dangers of tobacco/nicotine you will learn that the risks are EXTREME. Deadly. Worse than any of us could have imagined, worse than any addict can admit. It is not unusual for craves to pop up out of the blue and throw us for a loop especially early on in the quit. You are v. young in your quit. Protect it with your life. Nurture yourself through any difficulty. Reward yourself for every crave and trigger faced. The Significance of Rewards This is the addict speaking and you must stop obeying the addict ! Remember the words of our member, Sirius, "The next time a craving plunks down on your face ask yourself, " What price you are willing to pay to own yourself?" Here are some more lies we all told ourselves Red Flags Hang tough, look towards your freedom. Your self-esteem and self-confidence are about to blossom and you will have earned a profound trust in yourself that will help you for the rest of your days on the planet.

Hey Nana, Hang tough. Breathe through this and calm yourself. Craves do not last all day. Time them. They are actually short lived. In the beginning, I opted for obsessing over the crave which prolonged my distress. I had a few epic tantrums. Then, I started to cut the thoughts loose and purposefully change my thinking by looking at something beautiful or listening to something beautiful while in the throes of a crave. Even though I was kinda sorta faking it, my brain caught on and found more beauty to admire. If you smile, even smile a fake smile, endorphins are distributed automatically. I used this to great advantage. Chocolate also, lol. Hang in there, Nana. You won't be here ever again as long as you keep your commitment to NOPE.

Thinking of you @Nana20, each crave is a brain receptor that hasn't gotten the memo that you have quit smoking. Once the message is delivered by not providing nicotine, that individual receptor will return to it's natural state.
