Time for some facts about Quit Train and why it was started. Normally I don't get involved in these issues because I only have the time to commit to Quit Train, not other quit sites. Although I'm sure they would like my input on things as I've seen them mimic our ideas in an attempt to create the same kind of supportive environment that we have. That can never happen there for various reasons, sadly enough. The lies that have been said about us and our members over the past few months are nonsense.

1. All the mods here, myself included, left the other place by our own choosing. We wanted a safe environment where we all felt comfortable to kick our shoes off at the end of a long day and just relax. Our members have the same vision and provide this environment for all to enjoy.

2. Yes, some members have been banned there and we're not interested in that. What's important is if you want to quit, or have already, and if we can help you along the way.

3. There was no recruiting campaign to get members. If a friend tells another friend about a new bar that opened up, that is not recruiting. They changed their forum rules well after Quit Train was started. Besides, if a member has been banned from a support group, don't they have a right to join another to protect their quit? Of course they do and should. Can someone be a member at more than one forum? Of course! I encourage everybody to get all the support they can get and if they prefer one place over another, I 100% support their choice.

4. Anything can be fabricated, even private messages to "prove" whatever it is that you're selling. IP addresses can be added/changed to try and prove whatever it is that you're saying.

5. I was told that if I didn't like some of the products they were selling or how they ran the board, that I should start my own forum.

6. I took their admin's advice and started my own forum.

7. I have been setting up/maintaining forums for over 12 years so I wasn't exactly flying blind.

8. They "sincerely" wished me luck and hoped that I succeeded because they just knew that I would fail.

9. When it was apparent that Quit Train wasn't going anywhere, they started to ban even more members, myself included.

10. Now the recruiting campaign conspiracy theorists worked overtime to start the propagation process to spread the lies.

11. One of their owners is a member here and is not banned.

12. Nobody made a fuss over their link in HAT's thread. Don't care. Not threatened. Bigger things in the works for this forum and don't have time to worry about such trivial things. My link, their link...it's all over Google anyway. Who cares?

13. Yes, a lot of the members there who are propagating the lies are members here. They can snoop and read all they want. I hear even screen shots from our forum are being displayed on their forum. Cool. Thanks for the advertising.

14. I've asked all members and even made it a "rule" that no other quit smoking forum will be talked about in a bad way, its members or past issues. The same cannot be said for them as some of the stuff that has been brought to my attention is so far over the top it's not even worth responding to.

15. We maintain an environment free from the drama that hinders a strong quit.

16. They are publicly stating that new members there are members from here. Imagine being a new member and reading that the members who "run that place" think you're there to spy and not quit. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Yikes. I feel bad for those members.

17. I was threatened with a possible lawsuit from the owners in a PM from one of their mods. Kind of like "pass this onto him." Unbelievable.

18. This forum is owned and operated by former smokers. The same cannot be said for other forums.

19. We sell nothing, do not data mine and do not sell many different products and use this forum as a tool to do so. We are not a call center and do not have interns who never smoked moderate our quit smoking forum. We are 100% free and ask of nothing except participation to pay it forward and help others.

20. I disabled our Facebook sign in before even one single member ever signed in via Facebook. Why? Because you agree in the small print to give up your friends list for advertising purposes. As soon as I saw that, I deleted the Facebook app I made and promptly removed the option to sign in via Facebook.

21. We don't ban members or dish out warning points, much less based on how many members want to send PM's to the mods and say that their feelings are hurt or are offended. If there is an issue, it's addressed behind closed doors. Don't have to address anything so not much to be said on this subject. Banned members here are spammers. Good moderation catches this stuff as it comes in the door.

22. We don't care about the past and only care about our members and helping those who want to quit, quit and stay quit. We focus on the future of Quit Train, not what others say about us.

23. Everybody is welcome here. The proof is in the pudding as one of their owners maintains membership here.

I never really defended against anything that was said about us.  I don't care what they say about me, but those who I care about, all these months later, are still getting shit upon.  The problem is that if at some point you don't offer the truth in these things, people start to believe it.  The way they portray us in public (can't imagine the private messages, lol) is horrible.

 

We have not done that to them and you would think that people could see the vast difference in these two forums but sadly enough, some cannot.

 

Either way, I agree with you but for the sake of those I care much about, I wanted to at least put some facts out there.  The simple facts.  Simple.  Facts.

Thank goodness for this site MQ, thank you, really thank you. My quit was nowhere near ready for free flight and this safe haven is an utter god send!

I left the other site prior to you making this site.  And I attempted to quit several times and felt very very alone.  I had no support.  I had no place to go to vent, cry or say "yippee !!".    And then someone told me about here. 

 

There's an old saying...... if what you do helps just one person, then it was all worth it.

 

I would like to say thank you.  I know I will be at least one of those people that you have helped with this site.  And there will be many many more behind me. 

 

I am 16 days free today.  And marching forward into day 17.   I am honestly grateful for each and every one of you.  I do not believe I could get this far without y'all.

This is how I felt also.  And it's not from the outside, it's from within.  The problems are still there and they will still continue until the mob mentality is resolved.

 

I left there for 2 reasons.  One being the fighting.  I don't do drama.

And something else I want to say.......  Rainforest, Hockeymom, Sarge, Greenlover, Chani, Bakon, Jonny5, Marcus, Soul, Scottinpa, Tommy, Wiley and if there's anyone I missed.... please add.

I was a member there from August 2012 until QT was formed. I have posted more here than I did there, so that should tell you something. I'm very glad we have this site. No matter how far along I am in my quit, I still love getting support and giving it. 

 

I never felt welcomed there. I do here.

I missed the argument threads. Or was too simple to notice. Who knows. I didn't like the changing and censorship of what I wrote. If I offend someone then they need a sense of humor and to read it with a lighter tone implied. But to change it is wrong. Just delete it would have been better.

 

That said I have some complaints here. The nudie picture thread is being littered with cat photos. Please only post the proper Human naked photos.

Second is the way some guys here are to feminine, wearing skirts or talking like women, saying " love it" or are so clearly hiding their vagina. Men don't say things like sticky quit either.

Third is the lack of help some guys in chicks and sticks game. Ginger is not on often, an Lucy or Bonnie only needs a little help to thump on us. You guy to important to help us maintain our superior counting ability?

Four (I am never reaching 23 so relax) is not a lot of jimmy control. He flexed that arm after taking down the pevert looking over the cubicle picture. How can you allow him to continue to intimidate me with the raised fist?

Five. Cleaver kitty proved to be that dingbat trouble maker who anytime I do look over there is still posting poison on us. If she is secretly reading this I will say you need to shut you ******* pie hole.

Six. Don't let kids read five but my last complaint will be no summer picnic. I got a cool Hawaiian shirt and no party to attend.
