Positives From The Pandemic

Featured Replies

This morning a small plane crashed down in the middle of an elementary school's playground here. The pilot died instantly. This made me think about how lucky it was that there were no kids on that playground which would have been filled with children at that time had it not been for the school's closing due to the Covid virus.

And although this is heartbreaking for the family of the pilot who died, it must also be a relief to them that no one else was injured or died.

These are such scary, unknown times it makes me wonder if anyone else has witnessed a positive from all this negative?

That's heartbreaking, jillar, but it certainly could have been tragic for many more families.

Well, I have discovered a positive from having to eat my own cooking for the last couple of months -- I finally lost that stubborn 5 lbs that didn't want to go away.

I think, despite social distancing social skills and manners have improved and people are just nicer. People are talking to each other in queues. Asking each other how they are going and they are total strangers. Saying high as you pass when walking. How it used to be.

Maybe some people are quitting smoking because they don't want to have compromised respiratory function in the event they were to eventually contract Covid-19.

That is so sad.

I think a positive is so many animals being rescued. Finding new forever homes where they are being loved.

I think there is nothing more calming than the unconditional love that our animals give to us so freely.

Whether it be listening to them purr, or getting a look that can melt your heart, or the silly things they do that make us smile or laugh, or cuddling with us for hours.

It's a win-win situation for the animals and their new family.

I have resolved to never dye my hair again! Joined a support group for that and it has been going "gray-te"! 😏 Been 3 months since my last hair appt!

Here are some of the positives in my life in The Days of Covid.

Lower concentration of air pollution from automobiles.

The air smells GOOD. It has been a magnificently fragrant Spring.

My street is quiet and clean.

I appreciate the lines being more clearly drawn.

Those people not wearing masks or not practicing social distance will never, ever be invited into my world.

A few 'friends' not adhering to the protocol have blown it completely with me and they know it but, it's OVER.

My pal, Kristin and I are preparing for the possibility of evacuation in the event of hurricane.

In the past, we would both bug out to the airport.  Now, that involves too much risk.

We will rent a car, go Covid Glamping and be able to stay away from restaurants, hotels and general public for the most part.

We are having fun assembling supplies, making mosquito nets and packing stuff (I LOVE to pack). LISTS !

This also serves to assuage the stress of possible evacuation in pandemic days.

Many long distance friends and lovers are keeping in closer email touch.  I love this.

Lots of music being shared by musicians even though their future is looking bleak...the music transcends.

Artful letters from writers.  Photographs of new artwork from around the world, inspiring.

It has provided me with a multitude of Muses and I am writing well and painting like a demon.

Small packages of thoughtful presents arrive occasionally.

Cookies at Easter, a collection of forest floor fodder from the mountains, shells from Big Sur.

A bone fide love letter.

Awesome gifts for me.

I have been sending arty stuff back, going through my stash and feel closer to many people than ever before.

I am grateful every day for my health.  Grateful I do not smoke, do not want to smoke, do not even think about it.

Grateful for all of you on QTrain.

All your quits galvanize my quit and motivate others in a profound way.

Also, the comradeship is so very nice in these days of isolation.

Y'all are funny, smart, silly, brave, interesting, encouraging...we have a wonderful place here.  It is Sanctuary.

This is very inspiring.  I think at times we all feel like we could not stand another minute of this but then we realize the positives!

I genuinely do not understand the fear of "going gray" that some people have.  My barber pointed out that I'm getting gray around my temples.  He broke the news to me like he was telling me I have cancer...started talking about "treatments" and "options."  Before he had a chance to pipe in some sad music, I made it clear that I don't care about some gray hair.

I turned another year older on Thursday and I've got a baby daughter on the way...a bit of graying seems to be in order.

My hair was totally white by the time I was 30. Could care less. Hey, at least I still have it 😋

Hope you had a happy BD Thursday 😉

@Boo and @reciprocity, you men look "distinguished" with grey hair. When us women like me and @Rozuki decide to go grey it's considered "letting ourselves go" or my husband says "giving up". And he's right, I give up coloring my hair!

I turned 56 a couple months ago and I think I've earned every grey hair I've got so I'm letting it flow and saving a lot of time and money I might add 😊

Thanks.  I did have a good birthday.  Grilled some steaks, baked some potatoes, ate too much red velvet cake...again.  Had a quiet night at home with the wife.

Twenty-six year-old Boo would have thought that was a boring way to celebrate a birthday.  Forty-six year-old Boo completely enjoyed the laid back vibe of the evening.

Happy Booday!  Next birthday you'll have an almost one-year-old helping you eat cake.

Happy Birthday,  Boo.  Glad you had a splendid day.
