I'm going for a cup of tea....   Does that count?

  • ran outside 6 miles and walked 1 mile it was nice

  • I am in awe of all of you...but I am proud that after at least 15 years of total slugdom...after 3 1/2 weeks I am walking 1.6 miles in 30 minutes on my treadmill!!

Gorgeous ride on the roadie yesterday at dusk. Banged out 22 miles around Newport Beach back bay

This morning I taught a class then rode 26 miles with an immediate 2.5 mile run. Getting used to running on tired legs- more of a mind trip than anything once I get going I feel good first 1/2 mile was brutal. Feeling accomplished time for a nap

@AceWhite Good job!! You deserve a nap! What classes do you teach if I may ask. Not sure how you have time for all you do. We will start calling you iron man on the train. 😁😁😁😁

Incorporating a little weight training into my daily routine feels good. Nothing major. Just some upper body work.  I think it may be helping with my right shoulder. As near as I can tell, I have a partial rotator cuff tear. Being a medical professional, and an excellent diagnostician, I’d bet money on it. It has been bothering me for months, though showing some slight improvement, lately. The light  weight lifting seems to help. I am still on a roll on the treadmill, literally.😊 I have not missed a beat. I am still doing two 2 mile sessions daily. I am keeping the speed at 3.5mph, but have been gradually increasing the incline. By the end of each session, the incline is at 4%. It doesn’t sound like much, but I can certainly feel it. I burn 600 calories daily on the treadmill, each day. As for diet, I am eating lighter, avoiding red meat, per my Cardiologist’s suggestion, and drinking only water, also at her direction. I am proud of my dedication to my exercise regimen. I have not skipped even one workout, since I got my treadmill.

I know some days are difficult to get moving- excellent job with consistency Katgirl!

Distances mean nothing it's the amount of effort that counts.

2 miles uphill is quite a distance btw

I recommend a new Cardiologist.  A body needs Dr Pepper.

I agree, and will cheat occasionally, for my favorite carbonated beverage, which does happen to be Dr. Pepper. Having said that, carbonation weakens the bones. So moderation is key. Also, when I do  drink soda, it’s not the diet variety. Give me the real deal, please.

200 Pushups + 200 situps this morning on the local Disc Golf course. Alternated sets of 20 reps of situps and pushups at each of the 18 baskets. Then did one more set of each just in case some else did the same thing today so I could say I did more.

I just learned about disc golf this Summer, when I discovered the odd course at a local park, and witnessed some guys playing.

I spent about 500hrs volunteering to help build the thing but have never played, just no interest.  But they are great to use for exercise, especially if they are in the woods. I do all kinds of exercises using the course and the woods.

I have abused my shoulders throughout my life: multiple dislocations, AC joint sprains, both collar bones broken, and recurring rotator cuff issues.  Shoulder pain is just a fact of life for me at this point.

However, strength training and mobility work have helped the cause.  High Boy Rows (a bent-over row where the bar is brought to mid-chest or slightly above) have helped a great deal with my rotator cuff issues.  I've been surprised how much better my shoulders feel since adding Dead Hangs (hanging with straight arms from a pull-up bar) to my mobility work.

I wish I could hop into the WABAC machine and tell young Boo about how all of those injuries are going to accumulate over time.  That's not a feasible option, so I'm left looking for ways to rehabilitate instead.

5.88 mi bike ride.

If it's not to personal, I'd be interested in how you hurt your shoulders.  I'm thinking bronco busting, WWF wrestling, motocross racing?

As Meatloaf said: "two out of three ain't bad."

Had more dirt bike and four wheeler wrecks than I care to remember.  Did get bucked off a horse, not technically a bronco but rather a high spirited quarter-horse.  However, didn't hurt my shoulder when I got bucked.  Managed to escape that one with only a turned ankle.

Throw in some old baseball injuries, farm work mishaps, accidents in and around whitewater rivers and steep creeks, a rope swing trick at the lake that went terribly wrong, and being a passenger in a Jeep that rolled three times...you get the picture.

I try not to complain about the aches and pains too much.  I'm just lucky to be alive.

You sound like you went wild in your youth.  That was only a prep course for parenthood.  Get ready as they get older, you will be doing things with them that make you go "S..., I thought I could still do that!"

That's a lot of action.  I can't compete w/ that.

Todays exercise:
15min bike ride + stretching +

3 circuits of 15 reps each:
Pushups (1st set was 35)
Weighted situps
Lift and press
Horizontal lat pull

Cycled a 26 mile loop down a river trail to Huntington Beach yesterday afternoon- about 13 miles into a solid ocean breeze. Legs are sore today. Days are getting shorter & my rides are ending just past dusk. Might need to quit my job so I have more time to play

3000 meter swim for lunch

Trail run this eve for dinner

I'm really tired tonight. I stretched for 15min and did my daily set of pullups (3, trying to get to 5).  Maybe a walk in a few minutes.

Yesterday , I was on my 2nd session on my treadmill, when I started to feel very hungry, as I hadn’t eaten in hours, and just felt like my blood sugar had plummeted, so I stopped after 1 mile and had a snack and some water. After 25 minutes , or so, I resumed my set, but the machine had not stored my data. It holds it for 10 minutes, in case you need a rest. I knew I had stopped at exactly 1 mile, though. Theoretically, I should have done just one more mile. However, revitalized, I started all over and did 2 miles. So, I power walked 5 miles uphill yesterday. 😊
