  1. CONGRATULATIONS ON 6 MONTHS MQ! Thank you for spending your time paying it forward for all of us.
  2. CONGRATULATIONS ON ONE MONTH QUIT! GREAT WORK!
  3. This is great!
  4. Love the toothpick idea. My husband smokes, maybe I will try it on his sometime- lol. I agree, it is all in the mindset. My husband and I used to smoke in the same places and when I quit, his smoking got bumped outside and/or in the garage. He does not smoke in my car, even when I am not there (because I can smell it-yuk). We have agreed on this. So I would suggest talking to your husband so you both can come up with some agreements you both can live with. You are doing great planning for this, super job. Enjoy your time together.
  5. Here is a saying that I repeated over and over at the beginning of my quit and it came from my (then-11year old)son: I just mentioned out loud that I needed a cigarette ( on around my fourth day quit) and my son said " you don't need one you just want one." It was not a need- just a want so I could go without it. This saying stuck with me because it was so true. I repeated this sentence over and over during the first couple months and it helped so much.
  6. Beacon, I am so sorry for your friend and that she has not made that chose to quit yet. I can it imagine it must be so heartbreaking and frustrating at the same time. I hope she sees what an inspiration you are and believes in herself enough to quit soon. You are a good friend Beacon and I am sure you are doing everything you possibly can by being there for her.
  7. I used this for a short time. I felt that it helped also. It teaches you the nutritional value of the foods you are eating. That is where I needed the help.
  8. the horse started
  9. will not/ did not smoke today!
  10. My husband thinks I am nuts, holding my breath staring at timer-lol- 56 seconds.
  11. Doreen you are incredible. Dottie has the best home ever. I believe it was definitely meant to be. Enjoy.
  12. Julie, your house is gorgeous. Lots of time and energy and it came out perfect. All of you are very talented family right down to your children.
  13. I know the feeling, you can smell it anywhere. Ever go to the store and walk down the isle and smell it on the person coming down the isle in the opposite direction or in the car in front of you when you are driving. Just think of it as reassurance that you will never go back to smelling like that.
  14. Babs that was an excellent story. I enjoyed reading it and you are right- "no more excuses".
  15. CONGRATULATIONS BEACON ON 7 MONTHS! You are doing a wonderful job on your quit. Thanks for being a great support and inspiration to all of us.
  16. CONGRATULATIONS COWBOYBOB!
  17. CONGRATULATIONS ON TWO MONTHS, THAT IS FABULOUS!
  18. great job Bassman!
  19. CONGRATULATIONS EVELYN, NOW IT IS TWO DAYS! WOOHOO!
  20. I was going to try and run outside today as it is sunny and 39 degrees, but chickened out. I guess I am afraid that I will not make it that far if I run outside. So I ran 2.5 miles on the treadmill and walked a half mile.
  21. I just watched the episode of the new microwave, the father's new chair and the "whitie tighties". Jeff Garlin, "Murray" is great.
  22. We were not allowed to- but we smoked in the bathroom of the high school, between classes. There was a teacher right outside the bathroom too and did not do anything. We smoked outside the school in the "pit" before and after school. At this same time, I was working at a hospital and there was smoking rooms and non- smoking rooms.
  23. HAHA- no no - not worthy- I was eight years old at the time. Probably not a good choice for a 50th birthday party
  24. Great work Jackie. Those thoughts don't deserve any time or energy. Get rid of them- don't pay them any attention and get on with your day. You are absolutely right.
  25. Soozie, I am a little late, but you did wonderful. I am so proud of you. Only 10 days in and you handled yourself like a pro! Congrats. I am more of an 80"s person, but when you said 70's the first thing that popped into my mind was Captain and Tennille. My friend and I used to listen to them when we were younger. I don't know why I just thought of that (or admitted it  ).

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
