  6. Congratulations on two years smoke free @Christina, I hope you're doing something special for yourself today to celebrate
  7. Michelle, you need to realize that you are still so new in your quit. Cravings at three weeks are completely normal. There is something though about the threes, three days, three weeks, three months, that create stronger cravings for some. You smoked for a lot of years. That's a lot of triggers to get past but each time you do the crave gets weaker and you get stronger. You can take comfort in the fact that the longer you stay quit the easier it is to get past a craving and soon enough they just become irritating thoughts that are easily swatted away. We recommend staying close for a whole year and even taking the One Year Pledge. This will get you through all the seasons and holidays when cravings can be their toughest.
  8. How's this for encouragement lilley, I waited to quit until my breathing was so bad some days I couldn't walk to the mailbox without getting winded. My pulmonologist told me it was asthma but every time I got a cold my breathing got worse. Now four years after quitting I'm sitting here on oxygen, diagnosed with severe emphysema. Something as little as a chest cold can send me to the hospital or worse. If I had of quit BEFORE my breathing issues started I probably could of staved off most of this, at least for a few more years if nothing else. Don't be stupid like me. Instead of thinking about what you like about smoking think about what you like about being quit. As far as your friends and family not seeing your failure, they do see it. And if you want to know what they honestly think, ask them.

@reciprocity dying your hair is expensive and has to be touched up every six weeks to cover new roots. It's a pain in the ass and I used to do it at home. I'm glad I made the decision to go gray, way before Covid. The downside is how long it takes to grow out!

  21. Hi Sarah, welcome (back?) You said you went back to smoking, how long were you quit before you threw it away? What is it you're fearful of? Succeeding? Having a healthier lifestyle? Or maybe it's the increased self esteem or the money you save? All of these can be very scary...…………...NOT! There is absolutely nothing to fear with quitting Sarah. We all did it so that should be proof enough that if all of us can do it anyone can! Stick close to us, stay active and lets get this done!
  22. NOPE!!!
  23. Set a higher goal Jeff, one month isn't long enough to really see all the benefits quitting offers. Get yourself a ticker for your signature. I used to love logging on everyday to see how much time, money and cigarettes not smoked I had accumulated. Stick close to the forum, a big part of my success was from the shear determination to not let my quit buddies down by failing. All for one, and one for all!
  24. Is being a buser setting my standards too high?
  25. All you have to do is not put another cigarette in your mouth and light it Jeff. That really is all there is to it. How exactly did you lose this quit? Did you make a conscious effort to go to the store and buy a pack? If so, wouldn't that time have been better spent here on an SOS? Did you already have a pack stashed somewhere? If so then you never had confidence in your quit or yourself to quit. With your relapse history you should throw away anything to do with smoking Trust me Jeff, when you're really ready to quit you will do anything you can to save the time you have in already and keep your quit.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
