  1. Very well put, Saz. You perfectly described what I was experiencing too: conviction that I smoke because I enjoy it and can stop any moment, and it’s harmful, yes, but I can stop so it doesn’t concern me. I can’t believe how blind I was.
  2. FANTASTIC JOB, Jane! Congratulations, so proud of you!
  3. You are young pharte ? I think I know what you mean, one can’t be constantly enthusiastic and small changes often don’t look spectacular. As a results, the road to freedom isn’t rainbows and unicorns, miracles don’t happen. But it’s worth it, regardless how angry we are, it is worth it
  4. Congratulations!!!
  5. Thank you, QT for saving so many lives, for the support and lack of judgement, for the wonderful community. You deserve the cake! With extra chocolate!
  6. Huge, huge congratulations! 75% of the way completed! That’s awesome!
  7. Congratulations! Smoke-free beginnings are often hazy and foggy, but the reward afterwards is worth it. Enjoy the Quit!
  8. I love many things! That I’m not the odd one out going for a smoke. That I don’t schedule activities to guarantee cigarette breaks. That I can breathe. That I can use my wonderful perfumes. That I don’t get irritated because I want to smoke and can’t, and now I can enjoy time with friends and family. That I DID quit and it gave me a huge confidence boost, and a feeling that I can achieve anything. Everyday i discover new reasons why is it good not to smoke!
  9. Awesome! Congratulations on this important achievement. Well done.
  10. Amazing! Enjoy the party, you’re the star!
  11. Congratulations! Steven months is so great!
  12. Thank you! Those two different experiences were the best lesson, better than anything you can read or hear. And it doesn’t mean changing the mindset is easy. When we follow certain patterns for years they become automatic and we can’t really say where do they start and where end, but knowing that triggers are psychological and not physical reactions is already a huge step and a bigger chance of success.
  13. Hugs Jenny. I do believe that her confessing is a good sign, a sign that she doesn’t want to go that way.
  14. Congratulations and all the best, Shane! Thank you for being here, for your support and great attitude. Celebrate this event, you deserve all the best!
  15. In my previous quit I was suffering. I was missing the cigarettes and was saying it loud, I also wanted to be different than other ex-smokers who seemed to hate nicotine. That was the most ridicilo, stupid and harmful approach possible. In my head I was a smoker, regardless of the level of nicotine in my body. This time my mindset is completely different and here I am, six months clean and free. It IS all in the head. And it doesn’t mean disregard or downplaying; on the contrary, it’s more scary when our mind is a slave, but the sooner we get it, the better targeted our attack and defense will be, we will know where to concentrate the forces.
  16. Great update Shane! Reward yourself because you deserve it!
  17. Great job LML! You’re strong and have will of steel. I didn’t write in that topic, but I really appreciate your attitude and the way you discussed with Saz. You presented your arguments, listened, considered them... it’s amazing. You have this quit and I wish you as few cravings as possible
  18. I don’t have any smokers around either. Recently a craving hit me when i was leaving the metro station. I had been leaving stations for six months without any issues. This shows how strong this addiction is, the might may appear clear but it’s still there
  19. I am irritable and prone to crying, better let’s not argue ?
  20. Huge congratulations!
  21. That’s awesome! Congratulations!!!
  22. For me cigarettes were a company in solitude. I have recently moved to another country and immediately it triggered a thought “now you’re on your own, sit and enjoy the cigarette”. I’ve been smoke-free for exactly six months and this quit has been relatively calm, so those thoughts were unexpected. But I’m glad I’ve beaten another scheme, will be stronger in case there’s some forgotten, hidden trigger lurking and waiting for its moment.
  23. Great job, congratulations!
  24. Thank you! You’re such wonderful and supportive friends!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
