I really hope we're still talking about Tootsie Pops. It's not a chew toy ladies.
  2. Now's probably not a good time to bring up that road trip to Nashville I took with some friends back in the day. We were supposed to get on 24 East but ended up on 65 South. When you're traveling home from Nashville to Chattanooga, the last thing you want to hear the driver say is: How the **** did we end up in Alabama?
  3. Yep. Not only did I consistently leave in the middle of conversations when I was a smoker, I was often thinking about getting my next fix while I was in the middle of a conversation. Evaluating the situation, only half listening to what was being said, waiting for the perfect opportunity to skip out and get my fix. When I was smoking, the cigarette called the shots. I was just along for the ride. Good riddance.

  5. I'm on my way...
  6. I vaguely remember when George H.W. Bush was our president and he inadvertently flipped off a bunch of Aussies on an official state visit down under. He was flashing the "V-sign" unaware of what that meant in Australia. It's probably a bit like the telephone game. Someone said the peace sign means "up yours" and somewhere along the line of communication somebody confused the hand gestures.

Well...that's a wrap folks. Remind me to forget this game.

I'm dicking around on the computer and just occasionally peaking at the TV. More of a damage assessment at this point. Avert your eyes Braves fans!

Damn. Wish the Braves game was blacked out where I live. These are not "official" highlights, but do serve as a good representation of what St. Louis is doing to Atlanta in game 5...
  10. Don't take this the wrong way Linda...
  11. It's Canada. All you really need is a hockey puck, a couple of albums by Rush, and a gift card from Tim Hortons. Seriously though...the last time I was in Canada, Banff National Park, I stayed a night in Longview, Alberta. Rented a room, ordered a steak, and picked up a few supplies. The folks in Longview accepted my currency without question. I don't always have the answers, but I do provide anecdotal evidence.
  12. True or false: giving someone the thumbs up sign down under is the same as telling them "up yours." I've got a lot of thumbs up memes I use in the celebration thread, but I'm not looking to pick a fight with an entire continent.
  13. Can we all agree to forget Bakon again next year?
  14. Good job and G'day Dave.
  15. Back when I was in high school, it was the cover of this song by The Clash that made me aware of the original. More recently, it's that commercial for Coors Light that put this song back on my radar.

I've always been a Braves fan, but I did wear a Detroit Tigers cap for a while when I was a kid. Two reasons: I was playing in the Dixie Youth League at the time and was on the Tigers two seasons in a row. Also, Magnum P.I. was one of the biggest shows on TV at the time and Tom Selleck as Thomas Magnum often wore a Tigers hat. So I thought I was pretty cool wearing the same hat as him. I wasn't a private investigator. I didn't live in Hawaii. I didn't own a Ferrari. I had never scored with a chick at that point in my life. I was too young to grow a mustache and have an awesome display of chest hair. But...I did have the same hat as him.
  17. Anybody else remember when someone asked Stewie why he changed his name to Mr. Titwank? His answer was right to the point. And hilarious. I miss that guy.
  18. Can't argue with that. The ceremony went off without a hitch. And I can't take any credit for that...didn't have a clue about how to put a wedding together. We had no choice. That cop serving the noise complaint seemed like a serious guy.
  19. Commit that cough and the feelings of regret to memory. Those are the realities of smoking. The pleasant memories of smoking created by the addicted mind are lies. Even the lies we choose to accept as truth are still lies. The realities of smoking are not the things from which pleasant memories are born. Good job getting right back on the horse. Ride on to freedom.
  20. I may have jumped the gun a bit with my talk of time travel and whatnot, but I think everybody knows what I meant. Or, they're just tired of trying to make sense of me when I go off on a tangent. I'll call Mr. Peabody and Sherman. Let them know we won't be needing the WABAC machine.

You earned it Juan. You are building a solid quit for yourself.

Could the Braves and Cardinals be any more evenly matched? The 3,4,5 spots in the St. Louis lineup (Goldschmidt, Ozuna, and Molina) killed us today. History has not been kind to the Braves in elimination games at home, but gotta keep hope alive.
  23. Built a rock-solid quit for yourself. Then built a forum that has been pivotal in the quit process for many that followed your lead. Congratulations and thanks MQ.
  24. Welcome aboard Vivianne. Congratulations on making a great choice for yourself. The ability to travel back in time and never start smoking in the first place would facilitate the process greatly. Unfortunately, it's not a realistic option. The good news is: the process we do realistically have is as simple as it could possibly be. Don't smoke! You don't have to do anything, you just refrain from sticking things in your mouth and lighting them on fire. Dead simple...no need to find a rip in the space-time continuum necessary. Keep it simple and drive on.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
