The good news is: we had a couple of days where the high stayed below ninety this week. The bad news is: another wave of hot air is on its way this week. October is a little over a week away and we're still looking at temperatures pushing 100 degrees. Summer has a way of overstaying its welcome here in the South.

The ghost of the Adam Wainwright trade still haunts the front office in Atlanta. From time-to-time I will hear someone say something like: The Braves have a lot of talent in the farm system but won't even listen to trade offers for any of them. To which the response always gets back to that time we traded Adam Wainwright from the minors to get J.D. Drew for one season. If John Schuerholz could travel back in time...

Welcome back Mrs. Guest. The rough parts experienced early in the quit are temporary. Freedom from cigarettes is permanent. It is one of the best investments you will ever make.

I hope Chip Taylor and Billy Joe Shaver work together someday. They seem like kindred spirits.

Ronald Acuna Jr. hit his 40th homerun yesterday. That makes him only the third player in the history of the game to hit 40 homers at age 21 or younger. Mel Ott and Eddie Mathews are the other two. Acuna also has 37 stolen bases making it very realistic that Ronald could join the 40/40 club this season. I think the young fella has a future in Atlanta.

Welcome back Jessi. Good call on giving up the cigarettes and putting vaping in the rearview. Freedom is straight ahead.

There is a big difference between a warning shot and blast off.

Hard fixed. By the time I was done welding and bolting...I can proudly say: that thing isn't going anywhere. The board is, let's pull a number out of thin air, is 97% complete. I'm just waiting on another box of rungs from Metolius. Finished up the horizontal addition to my pegboard yesterday. Training for climbing is the stated goal. However, what I'm really looking for is to be able to move around on walls like Spider-Man. Because, you know...life goals and stuff.

Admittedly, I was one of those guys who counted the Brewers out of the race for the postseason when Christian Yelich broke his kneecap. The Brew Crew has won 6-of-7 since Yelich went down. Could be that Milwaukee is rallying the troops with their leader down. Of course the question with that is: how long can that esprit de corps last? I guess what I'm saying is...I don't know. Guess we'll just watch the games and see how things play out.

At least that dream makes some sense. I woke up yesterday and remembered bits and pieces of the dream I was having. There was some guy yelling at me that I couldn't put diesel in the truck I was driving. I told him I wasn't. Then he yelled that I was using the green pump. That situation either resolved itself or I just don't remember how the dream played out. There was also a part of the dream where I was trying to climb up a large sign for some reason. I'd get about halfway up and the wind would start blowing so I would climb back down. Confession: my subconscious thoughts don't make a lick of sense.

Anybody else on a feta cheese kick right now? I can't get enough of that stuff. Made up a big ol' Greek omelette for breakfast this morning. Doing my part to help the economy of Greece, one block of cheese at a time.

Welcome aboard Christine. You've made a great decision to quit smoking. Some nerves and anxiety early in a quit are to be expected. With time, those feelings will cease and the only regret you will have is that you didn't quit earlier. Buckle up, knuckle down, and drive on.

John already has everything planned out for when the night falls, but hopefully he'll stick around for a good long while...
