Sorry to disappoint, but Richland was a no-go today. The recent rains had the water levels just right, but the straight-line winds that rolled through knocked over a bunch of trees. I can deal with some hydraulics and even undercuts if I know where they are, but I hate strainers. If Mother Nature doesn't throw another temper tantrum between now and the morning, we're going to do a North Chick run putting in on either Cooper or Cain. Good times (weather permitting)!

I think it's important as addicts to stay vigilant about our quits. I also think we need to be a bit more forgiving with ourselves in some instances regarding certain thought patterns. You had just experienced a frightening auto accident. You were faced with a situation in which you thought your physical health may have been seriously compromised. That's a lot of bad action coming at you all at once. I imagine any of us would be prone to some counterproductive thinking in a time like that. You did a bit of hypothetical rationalizing, but your quit is still intact. So, no harm there. Hope you are on the mend and your neck is feeling better. Good luck.

The obsessive thoughts are damn near impossible to avoid during the early stages of a quit. However, you are in total control of how you respond to those thoughts. The turning point of my quit was when I quit fighting the thoughts. They're just thoughts. They come and go. Let the thoughts happen, observe them for what they are and move on. Every thought has as much or as little power as you give it. As for calming the mind at night...deep breathing exercises are great. Just focus on your breathing and nothing else. I also found calming music and those relaxing sound videos on YouTube helpful at times. I was particularly fond of the ones featuring the sounds of rain. You're doing great Tammy. Proceed.

This was one of those days when I didn't really feel like working out so I just did some of my favorite moves: Front Squats, Romanian Deadlifts, Bench Press, Overhead Press, and Farmer's Walks. Finished up with some steady-state work on the rower and 15 minutes of mobility work. I started off slow, but eventually got in a good workout. Have a good weekend everybody.

Those gates can wait Doreen. Three straight days of moderate-to-heavy rains on Walden's Ridge means the water levels are up. We're running Richland Creek tomorrow! Now feel free to enjoy some old school 1990s VHS paddle porn...

Welcome aboard Silver. Pull up a chair and stay awhile. Congratulations on making a great decision for yourself.

Did some conditioning work this morning. Admittedly, I haven't been doing as much of that as I should here lately. Basically did a cardio circuit consisting of: Intervals on the rower, weighted step-ups, and jump rope. Repeated the circuit 4 times and finished with some core work: Hanging Leg Raises, Landmines, and Good Mornings. This afternoon, rather than sit in traffic, I stopped by a climbing gym and climbed for an hour. Climbing is a damn good workout, but feels almost like too much fun to be called work.

Welcome aboard TKS. Congratulations on choosing freedom from cigarettes. Let's change that to: this is my final and forever quit. Enjoy the ride.

Did some bodyweight exercises this morning: Pistol Squats, Pull-Ups, Elevated Push-Ups, Hanging Leg Raises, and Roll-Outs. Finished up with 10/20 intervals on the rower and 15 minutes of mobility work. Jumped in my friend's pool after work. Mostly just to cool off a bit, but did get in some laps.

Hell yeah! Good times. Sit down WALDO!

Back in the day, 1984 was the first album I bought with my own money. Thirty-four years later, I still enjoy cranking this song up...

Thank you Willis Carrier for inventing air conditioning.

Strength work this morning: Clean and Jerks, Romanian Deadlifts, Bench Press, Bent-Over Rows, and Farmer's Walks. Finished up with 20 minutes of mobility work. I see what you did there. You managed to work it into a conversation. Nice!

Better belated than never...or something like that.

Put the stamp on it! Wayne is a free man now. Congratulations.

Welcome aboard Zenith. Congratulations on making a great choice. Feelings of frustration. Mood swings. Both quite normal during the early part of the process. The rough bits of the quit experienced during the early days are temporary and fleeting. The freedom and sense of satisfaction gained by quitting successfully are permanent. You've made the right choice and committed to it. There's no going back now.

I was pressed for time this morning. So I did intervals on the rower and a bodyweight circuit: Box Jumps, Pull-Ups, Dive Bombers, Dips, and Hanging Leg Raises. Repeated the circuit 5 times.

MISSING. HAVE YOU SEEN THIS MAN? NO REWARD.

Did another round of Clean & Jerks(2x5). Finished up my strength work with 5x5s: Deadlifts, Bench Press, and Bent-Over Rows. A bit of core work: Roll Outs, Good Mornings, and Landmines. Finished up with 4 rounds on the heavy bag.

Great job Pearlie. Congratulations on a top-shelf quit.

Boxing workout this morning: 6 rounds on the heavy bag, 2 rounds on the double-end bag, 2 rounds of slip-line work, and 2 rounds of footwork/defensive drills. Finished up with some medicine ball throws, Landmines, and Russian Twists. Felt good after the boxing workout was complete so I did Clean & Jerks (5x2). Note to self: If you're going to work Olympic lifts into your workout, do those first.

Did we ever figure out what the other five commandments were?
