Wow that’s Brilliant What a massive achievement Huge Congratulations 🐸
  12. I agree. They're really an essential medical procedue for all us X-smokers. The idea being if there is anything worrying, at least you're catching it early. As with all cancers, by the time you start feeling symptoms, it's usually much more advanced meaning more difficut to treat. I had my annual yesterday - results July 6th.
  13. My doctor recently recommended a CT scan of my lungs because of my smoking history (pack and a half a day for 40 years). I got the results today....ALL NORMAL! Hallelujah, and thanks for all the support!!
  14. Shy I know I’m right I spent decades on the same wheel Dont wait until you have been given the news you just don’t want to hear like me I faced amputation I had run out of chances Yes it will be tough for a while , but once you’re over the other side you will so glad to be free .. Lets gets this done , we are all here to help you through 🐸
  15. Hi @shy Sorry to hear that you went back to your addicitons. 🙁 It happens to many of us, but you need to learn what to do when you get a really bad urge! There is an SOS section for when you think you are going to smoke. As soon as you get that bad urge where you want to smoke, come on here and post an SOS post. Since our members are from all over the world, someone is usually online. I had to use the SOS section once in my not so early quit, maybe between 8 months to a year and a half, I don't really remember exactly. Denali was there to get me through it! Thanks @DenaliBlues 😊 Shy, I am hopefull that this will be the last time you go smoke again! Oh and if you have any cigs, lighters, matches, etc, THROW THEM AWAY RIGHT NOW!!! AS SOON AS YOU READ THIS!! You know how difficult it is to quit, right, and you get lots of urges when you quit, right? Ok, my question to you is, do you like getting those urges? I know the answer is No! But, you do realize, every time you go back to smoking, you are going back to square one with those horrible withdrawal symptoms! Do you want to keep repeating such horrible feelings in your body and mind for so long? I know I didn't want to! This is the second time I have quit, and I am NOT going back, I can't, I think if I did, it would kill me at this stage of my life. Not that I'm old, but I still want to be here. Believe me, if I can do it, anyone can. My 100 year old mom lives downstairs from me, so I smell her smoking. I am also down there several times a day to check on her. Thankfully for a person of that advanced age, she is doing great!🙏🙏 Sometimes the smoke bothers me, but not very often. But like I said, if I can do it with all this temptation, ANYONE CAN!!!💪 Anyway Shy, YOU CAN DO THIS!!! YOU, just have to have patience. I shouldn't be one to talk as I was very impatient in the beginning,🤣 but I was determined.😀 GO FOR IT!!!💪😀
  16. Good Morning. NOPE!!

That's an impressive achievement! @breath Thank you for sharing and showing it CAN be done long term! 😊
  21. Great news Nancy. It's always such a fearful test, I am happy your results were clear.
  22. Run Chicks Run.😎
  23. Brilliant news Nancy Im so happy for you , you must feel so relieved 🐸👍♥️
  24. So happy for the good news, Nancy!! Hooray!! And thanks for the good reminder for us all… Ask your doctor about getting chest CTs for lung disease screening. For people over 50 with a history of heavy smoking, annual screening scans are free under most insurance plans in the US.
  25. Twelve …Hi Jo 😄

My husband loves to tell anyone who will listen that I'm a quitter. I "quit" my twenty year professional cleaning service ( actually the high costs of Workers comp in the state at the time forced me to close). I quit my ice cream truck business (because it sucked watching everyone having a good time while I was out putting two steps forward and ending up one step back). I quit throwing shingles to him up on the roof ( that one was his own fault for being a jerk on the roof). And then I quit smoking... I've quit quitting many a time and never really called them relapses because quite honestly I never quit to begin with. I simply abstained for a while. I really had to work myself up to just doing it. I gave myself little pep talks for months leading up to my forever quit. Saying things like "all good(?) things must come to an end". Then I would remind myself of all the things I had outgrown and convinced myself that smoking would soon be one of them. So on Sunday May 29, 2016 around 5:00 pm I smoked the last cigarette in my pack and that was that. Or so I thought..... Over the next five or so hours I proceeded to smoke every butt in my ashtrays. You see, I didn't tell anyone I quit just in case I failed so I hadn't cleaned and put away the ashtrays. So on Sunday May 29, 2016 at 10:15 pm I quit. It wasn't always easy and some days were downright brutal for me but most of that was my own darn fault. I didn't embrace the beauty in being a quitter. I was too busy feeling sorry for myself for not " getting" to smoke like everyone else could. Looking back now i truly believe your mindset is what is going to dictate how hard or how easy your quit will be. Choose easy....
