  5. Thank you so much everyone for the messages, means a lot. Well I,ve notched up another year, I am getting good at this now but seriously I am proud of being smokefree for 8 years, it’s one of the best things I have done in my life, and life is certainly better without smoking. Hmmm what to get myself for a treat, I was going to get a new Fitbit, but my Sister is buying me one for my birthday next month, so maybe some craft stash, as I do love my crafts and a nice take away and bottle of wine to all the oldies here, It’s great you stick around, you’re like family, and I find it comforting. to all the newbies, Please Please stick with it, after a short while, you just don’t miss smoking, and the years fly by. I remember getting to my first year, and it felt amazing, then 2 years even better, then when the novelty wears off, and you get used to your new smoke free life, you sort of forget about the time and years go quicker. i,m looking forward to being in the decade club woohoo… bring it on!

  12. Congrats on 3 months @GonSo!! Evenings were tough for me, too… as were vacations. “Downtime” without nicotine was an adjustment. But it keeps getting better. And you now have 3 months of living proof that you don’t need those nasty smokes! Onward and upward!

  18. Thanks All! I appreciate the great support on this site from you all. Other positives are I'm using hand cream like it's going out of fashion to aid the hand to mouth habit, so my hands are super soft lol

  19. That's the worst of quitting done & dusted! 1 whole month smoke free is a huge step forward toward a life time of smoke-free living! You've developed a nice tool kit of quitting tools to fight the sneaky nico demon when he comes calling and trying to get you to abandon your fight. Use every tool in your tool kit to fight for your freedom. You have so much invested and by now you know you CAN make it! Congrats and treat yourself with something very nice to mark this important milestone

  21. It does get better @SD2026, each month will get a bit better and by the time you are at a year, you shouldn't have these withdrawal symptoms anymore. You may get an occasional urge but it's much different than the ones you are experiencing now. They are basically few and far between and go away in a few seconds to a couple mins. You will get there, just keep doing what you are doing!!

  24. Question: What is 2920 days long and covered in confetti? Answer: @catlover's quitting anniversary! Congratulations, friend. Eight years is a brilliant quit. I'm really happy for you - and very grateful for the help you've given to me and others. Enjoy this day of celebrating your freedom!

  28. OMG! Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I try to give back what I have taken for others that went before me as that helped me imeasurably during my quit. I honestly forgot completely about my 9th anniversary yesterday as I just returned from a trip and was busy catching up with household stuff and not realizing what the date was. My celebration was a nice warm beach away from all the snow & freezing temps at least for a brief period!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
