I still get one or two smoking dreams per year: they're incredibly distressing to me, and they tend to ruin a day or two for me. I've come to the conclusion that these have nothing to do with smoking; instead, I see them as manifestations of broader anxieties about "failure," feeling like an imposter, etc. To have resumed smoking is just my brain's most powerful expression of those anxieties. I took January as a "trial month" of sorts to figure out a workout plan. Part of what I'm doing today is putting the final touches on a workout plan that eases me into a full workout. Starting next week, I'll begin that regimen. Hopefully this time I won't collapse a lung.2 points

Sazerac Quit Date: October 23, 2013, A Good Day to be Free. Posted July 1, 2016 It was after quitting smoking, I realized how addiction had turned me into a spoiled brat. I indulged myself completely, I smoked anytime and anywhere possible. My most shameful example was after a home birth, my brand new daughter, alive and healthy, was being walked around by her father and I said to my midwifes, 'man, after 9 months and the last 12 hours, I NEED A SMOKE'. One of my midwifes asked, 'Really ?' 'Yes yes yes yes yes YES, I want a smoke !" She handed me a non filtered cigarette from the pack she had hidden in her jacket and that was the end of that abstinence for 29 years ! I call it 'abstinence' because I never ever wanted to quit and only quit smokes and drinks 'temporarily' for pregnancy. That was really Big of me, huh ? I didn't give a hoot about second hand smoke and that was worse than just acting the spoiled brat. Second hand smoke does actual HARM to people, animals and plants. Smoking is suicidal, homicidal, herbicidal, biocidal all the cidal-s you can think of and continues to make the tobacco companies rich beyond measure Gah! I am elated to not be lining those evil pockets anymore glad also, to not be 'cidal' anything. and one more thing... My Spoiled Brat also made quitting harder. 'This is too hard' the brat would moan 'I don't want to !' the brat would whine 'Why Are You Denying Yourself ? ' The Brat cajoled and wheedled until I simply had no other choice, I killed the Spoiled Brat. Killed Dead. Spoiled Brat-icide. Hah ! If you are thinking about quitting, Know You Can. You don't have to be the spoiled brat that addiction turns us into or, a slave to nicotine anymore. You Can Quit. Welcome @Tarvic. Glad to have you with us. I, too, used nicotine replacement in the first weeks of my quit. It was a useful tool, better than lighting up, and I’m glad it was available. But it has a drawback: as long as you are still using NR you are keeping your nicotine receptors activated and “hungry” for their next fix. So gum, lozenges or patches may actually prolong the suffering of withdrawal. Something to think about. Anyway, there are lots of good resources here to help you quit. Read, stay busy, and let us know how you’re doing. Engagement here really supports a strong quit. See you around!1 point

I don't recall ever having a dream involving smoking when I was smoker, but in the past 15 months I've had one about every three months. When I came to the forum I saw evidence of an "in-house" ticker the site used to support, but apparently that went by the wayside before I ever got here. Most of those I've seen (and my own) are all from Ticker Factory.1 point

I have been stuck at 169.9lbs for over a month! I can’t make the scale budge either way. I would be ecstatic to get back to my self designated ideal weight of 140. The belly fat has become my nemesis. But I’m not suffering from joint pain or stiffness and my back hasn’t bothered me in over a month. My gait is more sure, lengthier, and faster. I’m becoming more and more toned. So all in all, I’m happy and feeling healthier.1 point
