Day 10

Featured Replies

Well here I am at Day 10 of quitting smoking. The physical discomfort I was having & the insomnia are nearly gone. I am feeling better so I woke up wanting to smoke today but a piece of nicotine gum fixed that. Chewing very little of nicotine gum & plan to switch to regular gum as that may work just fine too. Going out tonight & will need to stay away from other Smokers right now. Fortunately, few of my friends smoke so it should be fine :)

Way to go Tyme2B.  It gets even easier as you go on!

Tyme you are doing good. Each day and experience you do as a nonsmoker you get stronger

Careful with alcohol when still on nicotine gum. Wait till your off it for a week and you will really feel good. That gum is good start but still hitting some ich and causing some too

Stay focused and stay positive  :)

Just keep up the good work, Tyme....one moment at a time!

After reading Marti's post about wine 2 months into her quit, I'm not taking any chances.  It's just not that important right now.

Have fun but stay focused on the quit.  I used the gum to quit and when I stopped using it, I feared I would go through physical withdrawal...but it never happened.  I never felt any.  10 days is excellent!!  BUT you have many years of addiction to unlearn.  So ultimately it's up to you when you are ready to drink etc, life does need to go on.  Just please remember smoking ruins your health and wealth and you deserve better than continuing being a slave to the addiction.  And you don't need to pay the big tobacco fat cats tons of money for the privilege of killing yourself slow, not anymore.

Made it through the evening with no smoking, no gum & just 2 glasses of wine. And I had fun. I didn't even think about smoking till we left the party & some people were outside on front porch smoking. It did not even smell good to me....I can hardly believe I am saying this! I didn't even want to linger to smell the second hand smoke lol! So I am actually surviving without smoking & starting to feel alive again. Hell week was hell, no question and even heck week started off tough but I am coming to grips with the fact I am now a non smoker. My friends are happily surprised as they have seen me try & fail in the past. I guess I was just practicing for the real thing. Now I want to stop the nicotine gum but slowly....no way am I going to take a chance on being without it yet.....I hope regular gum will be an ok substitute. Never know till I try. Sure hope it is seamless like Ava's experience.

Hoping I can stop the gum as well as you did Ava. I'm going to try. Smoking is not an option....I will use the gum longer if I need to.

thumbs up. sounds strong

This is wonderful! Congrats to you. :)

Nicely done! :)

And I love your attitude -- smoking is definitely not an option!

Keep it up.

I chewed the gum as well... I think the worst part of not using it is the Habitual Ritual.... chewing other gum definitely works.

Keep on keepin on... sounds like you are doing great.

Awesome, your doing great, feels good doesnt it, NOPE one day at a time xx

Going like a well oiled plan there :)

A wine is ok, maybe even 3 or 4, but go easy on getting tanked up if there's access to nicotine.

I'm liking the sound of switching gums, that sounds like a big win.
