Hi everybody,

I hope you are all having a great day/night.  I have been wondering, what happened to this board?  Why has it been so quiet?  I know it's summer in most parts of the world, but why so quiet? Even though I have only been quit 2+ years, I have noticed the decline in the member posts for at least 3 months or so.  Maybe because it is summer, I certainly hope that's why.  Anyway, let's see if we can bring this board back to where it was a couple plus years ago.   I have been told that it was quite busy, let's get it like that again!! I find that Quit Train is like my 2nd home, even if it is online, but these days in 2025, it doesn't matter because most everything is remote anyway.  It's certainly not like the old days when you actually had to see your friends face to face. 😆  In a way, it's better now that you can actually be remote, because you can reach a huge audience much faster, unlike before we had the internet, but that personal charm is gone, and that is what I miss.

I'm done talking, but let's get this forum the way it used to be!!💪

We can do it!!💪

Thanks for listening!😃

First off, being quit 2 plus years is awesome.  There is no "only" about that.  Great job and I appreciate your work as moderator and contributer in general.

I do have to say that Jillar was one of my favorite people from here, and QSMB, and I am really still mourning her loss.  I'm really saddened by that.  I am guessing that may play a role in some of the other old-timers here.

I recently re-connected with an old female friend of mine from college who used to smoke like a chimney but now vapes.  Trying to get her to join this site.

Yes, I do hope things pick up here but I understand your concern.

Thank you @johnny5, I really appreciate your kind words!🙂  Yes, Jillar was great, and unfortunately I didn't get to know her very long, but at least I GOT TO KNOW HER!😊

I really do hope you can get your friend to come on here! I certainly do believe that this site helps so much.  I hate saying this, but many who have been quit for lots of years don't come on here, but maybe that means they are quit, or at least most of them are?

So come on people, let's get this forum the way it once was!!! 🎉🎉

Hey, Sandi. Thanks for the check-in.

I’m around a little less often right now. (Still slogging through the aftermath of medical treatments that give me headaches, so being online isn’t my favorite thing these days.) But that’s temporary. And in spite of that limitation, I really love and value this community of lovely, kooky, kind, wise and supportive souls.

Quit Train has had my back during tough times. You all helped me keep my quit and offered a welcoming connection.  I’m sure a many of us can say the same. So count me in on the Train!

Thank you Quitting Girl for your

encouragement to get the wheels moving a little faster here .
Having been on the Train since day one it has been sad to see it’s lack of participation

of members .
The passing of our beloved Jillar has been an enormous blow to all who knew her .

I too am still in mourning and shock .

But we have to remember Jill would want this place to carry on  and help all those poor smokers who still need our help

She loved this place

I nearly came close to leaving too , but I’m glad the friends I have made here changed my mind

We are a Family ….

Lets fight to keep the Train chugging along

In Memory Of Our Beautiful Jillar

❤️❤️❤️

I'm sorry to say that I am not on here nearly as much as I used to be. I promise to try and check in more often. I too miss Jillar. Her and Doreen along with a few others on the train were a huge part of me achieving such a successful quit.

I know, everyone misses Jill but she wouldn't want any of us to stop coming on here.  She was a major part of this forum and we have to keep it alive for her and for all of us!

That's CbDave.  I have no idea what his avatar is supposed to be but I thought it looked like a roast chicken in a bra 🤔

Gday

I posted that….. how many years ago…. I can’t remember. But I had the picture after the aluminium bra removal.

Do you think I can find it. Well No.

It might be better I don’t. It’s Definitly not for family viewing.

Maybe it's because there are fewer and fewer smokers, that need/want to quit..   It's very rare that I even see anyone smoking anymore.   And when I do it's usually an older person, not a young one.   I think all the quit smoking campaigns and such over the last few decades have finally paid off.

There's been a downward trend over all, according to CDC studies over the  past decade or so.. Even the lower percentage years represent millions of Americans; and that's just the USA. Smoking cigs is much, much more prevalent in some Eurpoean & other countries considered to be 3rd world countries so there's still a great need for sites like Quit Train to encourage people thinking about quitting and then helping them along the way with positive support and never any judgement.

I think we'd all agree that quitting on the Train with all the other quitters was an important part of our success! Thank you to Quit Train and all it's members who helped drag me through the tough days of my quit. It was quite a surprise to me how much the support of others helped me 🤗

I definitely believe that the Train helped me get through all this.  I really don't think I could have done it without all of your help.😊 Yes, like @Reciprocity said, smoking is definitely more prevalent overseas than it is in the States and Canada.  Hopefully we will get new members that stick around so we can help them!🤞

In my 52 year smoking addiction, I tried to quit hundreds of times

Some lasting hours , some last a week , even got a couple of months going .

it always ended in failure

After being quit for over 12 years , I know where I went wrong .

I didn’t have the tools, the knowledge .

i didn’t have a family of Quitters helping me along .

Life is wonderful without that horrendous

addiction which had me on the verge of amputation.

Everyone thinks it won’t happen to them

until it does 🐸

A hearty plus one to all the comments about the importance of community support. Quitting is rugged - there are struggles and losses. But I never thought I’d find a tribe. Thanks to Quit Train I  have GAINED so much… freedom from nicotine, a wonderful community of friends, accountability buddies, people to give me affirmation and tough love, game pals, etc. This Train is a little bit o magic! If you’re “lurking” on the site…. take the plunge!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
