  • I am in awe of all of you...but I am proud that after at least 15 years of total slugdom...after 3 1/2 weeks I am walking 1.6 miles in 30 minutes on my treadmill!!

Went lighter today - just some steady state cardio on the elliptical

Rest week over, knee was really sore so took a week off of all but gardening and some walking. So restarting now with knee support on in case, Day 1 Level 1 of 30 day shred.

Pippa, thank you for taking the time to post your daily exercise log. It's so encouraging for me to see other people who really do incorporate exercise into their daily routine. I hope, hope, hope to get to where you are some day.

Day 6 of level 3...but I've been eating way too much of the wrong food & I've put on a few lbs :(

It happens chick, chin up, chest out and start again today. The few lbs may well shift quicker as they are recent. Lots of water too, flushes those extra pounds :) x

Chest, back, shoulders, abs, cardio 30 minutes

Day 2 level 1, 30 day shred.

10 mins of yoga just to stretch, feeling a little tight.

Well, you can laugh all you want to at Jack LaLane but he was the very first person to offer Americans fitness coaching IN THE HOME (i.e., on television). I remember how he galvanized my mother's generation and got them to start exercising. Good for him! He was soon displaced by Richard Simmons with his energy and humor and Richard was soon displaced by Jane Fonda with her exercise videos (in your home AND at your preferred time!). I know-- more than you ever wanted to know about home exercising. But somebody had to have the idea first and that was Jack LaLane.

2 days in a row of my version of the shuffle jog .... Still amazed that I am doing thins! 3daa4cc69413a4a4fda538b0ecb14120_zps9b10

day 3 level 1 of 30 day shred and a gruelling 1 1/2 hours of gardening... little bit broken lol.

Weights, spin class then a little later went to TRX class.  I was the only one there, so it was almost like a personal training session.  I can finally get into a pike from a plank!

2 eps of 'Revenge' on Jacob's ladder stairway.

I do love that show.

Now, onto the 'fun size' milky ways.

Did heavy weights session with my trainer and then kick boxing ... Can now no longer feel my legs ! a0d0423989cfe63dbac86525c36d6b54_zpsff34

Rest day complete

Day 4 level 1 of 30 day shred

25 minutes pilates with weights for core and arms.

Early this am went to gym #1 for weights, upper body only.  Had planned on running too, but one of my legs is bothering me a bit, so didn't push it.  Tonight, TRX training.  Getting so much better at that, yay!

shoulders and arms- I am the sweaty old guy in corner

Did small group training - really small - I was the only one in the class !

Afterwards - I was the sweaty old gal in the corner ! a0d0423989cfe63dbac86525c36d6b54_zpsff34

Two lots of 40 minute round trips walking.

Because the garage door has broken and the car is stranded.

I am sad - but fitter?!

Went for a bush walk :)

Brisk walk until the monsoon came and forced me to run like hell home

Spin class at 5:45 am, except I was there spinning on my own at 5:15  :)

Did my dog walking today. Three dogs @ 20 minutes each.

I'm not sure how many calories I burn doing this--not as many as I had hoped. These are rescue dogs (almost all pit bulls and rotweilers) who have not been socialized and don't actually know how to "walk" on a leash. They run ahead and pull your arm out of the socket then stop dead while they sniff something in the grass. So my response as a volunteer dog walker is supposed to be to stop walking until they come back and walk next to me. With most dogs that would be fine, but these dogs are stubborn and very excited to be out. So it's walk, stop, walk, stop, walk, stop, walk, stop... And sometimes they get confused and wrap the leash around my legs and THEN pull like mad!! (A-a-r-r-g-g-h!). Periodically we take a break I spend a few minutes teaching them "sit" and "stay". But then it's back to walk, stop, walk, stop...

I'm pretty sure that if I can manage to walk the same 3 dogs 3 times a week they will start to get the hang of walking WITH me instead of pulling ahead (I get to request which dogs I want to walk). Then we will be able to build up some speed and consistency and I can start burning calories. But in the meanwhile, having a 75 pound, well-muscled pit bull pulling your arm out of the socket and wrapping the leash around your legs for an hour is exhausting.
