  1. My rationale for quitting was that I became tired. So very tired. Tired of stinking, tired of throwing money away, tired of practicing self segregation, tired of not living my best life. I smoked the last cigarette I had with tears running down my face. I had to make a big deal out of it. I had to make it memorable. I knew that I was fixing to do battle with a monster and it would try to destroy me. It very nearly did break my mind. Two or three days in and I knew that I could never go through quitting again. If I ever started back smoking I would die as a smoker. My method was to just keep fighting. Keep my head down and keep swinging. Because I had a choice too. Die free or in chains.
  2. You are doing great and enjoy your evening!
  3. Congratulations Robin! You have an awesome quit going.
  4. WOOHOO! A whole decade of kick-ass-ery down. Amazingly well done Doreen! Thank you for your existence on this forum. You’ve helped me so much. You were a rock to cling to in my time of need. I think that you are just brilliant. I hope that you enjoy this monumental anniversary! Again, thank you!

    You Need A Smoke ?

    Ahhhh…..BROKEN CHAINS
  6. I’m sorry for your loss, Bri. Just keep turning your mind away from those pesky thoughts. The old Bri may have caved but not this strong new Bri we see! I mean you’ve kicked Nicodemons butt, laughed in Big Tobacco’s face and slammed the door shut on it. You’ve got this!
  7. So you just keep showing up here. You keep telling your story. As much or as little as you wish. It helps. It really does. You reach out. We assist. We can help. We want to see you succeed.
  8. Thanks @stzr500! I just love it when the veterans with so much time spent without nicotine in their systems drop in with an update. It gives us all so much hope. I remember reading some of your comments while I was doing some deep diving on this board during my initial quit and because of that I can give you credit for the assist in my own quit. I’m glad that you dropped in. For myself but especially for those who are just beginning their journeys. Take care!
  9. There are many reasons to quit. But it’s got to be for you. You can do this. This is THE place to be if you’re battling that Nicodemon.
  10. You’re doing great @tocevoD Excellent progress!
  11. Resonating.
  12. I’m sorry to hear this @Cbdave but glad you shared. Reminding us to be mindful of our health. I tend to let things go and ignore little issues I may question in the back of my mind. Sometimes I find myself thinking I’m bulletproof because I quit smoking but the truth is far from that. Take good care of yourself.
  13. Truth. Ugly. Brutal. There isn’t enough of it out there today. Thank you Doreen, for keeping it real.

  17. Let those tears run their course Bri. You will be stronger for it. I know you will stick with your quit. You’ve overcome so much. I hope that you are feeling much better now. I hate that you posted this a good while ago and that no one has been on to respond. Please let us know how you are doing.
  18. I’m glad to hear that you are well again and that you are still smoke free!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
