  1. I joined this forum two and a half years ago and I’ve never noticed the ‘Rate this Topic’ section under the title?! I feel like a complete idiot and now I feel like I need to reread everything and rate it! The sad thing is that I probably will. I feel like my work is incomplete and that is not acceptable. Some kind of OCD…ishness I’m sure. I also want everyone to be happy, so I’ll probably be handing out a whole bunch of five star ratings ! HaHa
  2. Paul said it best. You can’t unlearn what you know. And besides you said, You say goodbye to your dad in the way that you know he would have wanted. Invoking all that he loved most about your home. But you uphold your vow to protect your quit by vowing to protect the beautiful, pure, unravaged wilderness where you will set your dad free. You can’t do that if you are exhaling 1000’s of chemicals into the air and why would you allow NicoDemon to come in and take control of such a solemn occasion refusing to allow you to give your memories and grief the attention they deserve while placing those chains back on you and why, why, why would you bring those vile, wretched, murderous tobacco companies along to snicker and roll their eyes at your misfortune while planning to trap you into paying for their multimillion dollar lifestyles? You’ve got this, Denali. My thoughts will be with you! Take care!
  3. Congratulations on your 2 week quit MLMR. Congratulations on realizations and rationalizations, searching and finding, grasping and letting go, dramatizations and zen. I really do believe you’ve got yourself a forever quit.
  4. Enjoy life by the sea! And no, you can’t stay forever.
  5. You are amazing @Slow progress!
  6. Glad that everything is looking good on your tests. You are very fortunate.
  7. I know the struggle is harsh, but none of that bargaining needs to be going on. You get that first day done, reward yourself HANDSOMELY because you’ve earned it and then you move on to day two. You’ve got this.
  8. So obvious most people don’t even see it.
  9. I hate this happened @Kdad! Slowly killing yourself by smoking definitely isn’t going to help you or the situation though. Trash those cigarettes and let’s get you started on that forever quit.
  10. Great job surviving Hell Week, @MLMR!
  11. I pray things go well for you @Stewbum.
  12. Geez girl! You scared me when I read, “and took a drag.” Didn’t anyone ever tell you to NOT play with fire?! I’m so glad that you tossed those cigarettes and were able to get through your day smoke free! I hope that you are very proud of yourself You did good!
  13. Great job of keeping your quit Stew! I’m sorry that you had to go through all of that. Brighter days and better health are coming!
  14. RIP Jimmy Buffett. You are in the background of so many memories.
  15. Thank you @jillar and @johnny5!
  16. LOL Thanks, @DenaliBlues! She didn’t want to, believe me. I still get yelled at about that.
  17. I was born on Labor Day! LOL My mom had to leave the cookout because of me. I always have a great Labor Day weekend.
  18. So true! I only reminded him that he has quit once before so we know that he can do it again if he wanted.
  19. I stayed with my youngest brother after he had surgery last week. As soon as he could grab his cigarettes he was back out the door smoking when he got home because his transport didn’t allow smoking in their vehicle. He was on crutches mind you. Up and down, in and out. By the next day when the surgical meds were out of his system and he was hurting, he was smoking in his bathroom with the vent running. Up and down, back and forth. Still on crutches. The following day when he was really hurting and couldn’t or didn’t want to understand why, he was smoking in his bed because his leg was bothering him so bad he could barely move it. When he finished a cigarette he would just drop it in a plastic cup he had left some water in. Talk about stinking?! I absolutely refused to have anything to do with that cup. He had never smoked indoors because he just didn’t like the odor in the house and then he had kids too. So it was sad to see just what the nicotine cravings reduced him to but I was also so very thankful that I am so over nicotine. I’ll never go back to being a nicotine junkie. I can’t. He asked me to go to the store and buy him a couple of packs of cigarettes before I went home on the last day and it was $16 and some change for them. I was in shock. I honestly could not afford to smoke now. I’m in Georgia.
  20. Yeah, it’s almost impossible to get a bee to leave its hive. Now a hornets nest scares me to death. They are so ominous looking.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
