  1. gentle hugs ((doreen)), I bet that was painful to watch. I hope Tony is coping ok now and is able to relax a little this evening. No real useful words but calming vibes and love to you and yours. xx
  2. Me too, it would be so awesome to have a completely smoke free house for my girls, far less me! I'm keeping everything crossed but trying not to be pushy or feel too engaged in the outcome!!! But wow, what if?!
  3. haha, saving aylesbury buckinghamshire one smoker at a time ;) Might have to hit the streets.
  4. I want you to succeed, we all want that for you. I say with love that you need to remove all the excuses for yourself, I know them well..they've trapped me many a time too! The "reasons" why I would accept a slip or relapse, and this time I just said No I deserve more. Because that's true Evelyn, we all deserve more, to feel free and uncontrolled, you do have to really want it. I want it for you either way so hugs...go get em!! x
  5. Thank you all, very much appreciated, cease fire as I have copied and pasted and sent :) The meeting seems to have gone well. I am pleased the guy did a good job, using the term nicotine addict but going wholeheartedly down the nrt route. But whatever works right?! I think Monday is the day but don't want to be too pushy by keep asking questions, I myself went introverted and planned mine alone. But yey, even an attempt is a start right! and never say never....
  6. Massive congrats!! 7 months is amazing :) x
  7. OK new team! I am engaging your help because my Mum seems to believe I am some stalwart quit machine and not anyone can quit!! I don't know if she genuinely wants to quit, but she has been saying since last July she wants to and has made attempts and succeeded in cutting down from 3 packs to 2 most days... Her name is Jacqui, she is 65 and has COPD. I can hear it getting worse. She has smoked since teen years. In one hour she is going to a smoking cessation meeting and she is creating excuses and fears like I can't get around (disabled) so what will I do, in the evenings, if I'm craving etc. So what would your advice be to her... EDIT - Feel free to add, think I will mail it to her later as she's fretting over the appt, but is actually going :) So please add your thoughts and support. I would genuinely appreciate it. x
  8. Hey Juan, I came looking for you this morning :) Excited you have now got through the first day!! Wondered how you were coping and if we could help any. xx
  9. Soozie your post really touched my heart. I'm pleased your friend felt you were really ready to listen and as the daughter to that COPD mother, you do not want your kids to go through what I face. I quit because it finally sunk in I couldn't do that to my own girls. Keep that strength and focus, that alone is enough to guide me through craves, I ask for help but never sos cause I can just look up and see a real sos in action :( Powerful post and thank you for sharing. xx
  10. Let's go like everything...just cause we can now :)
  11. Pleased you're here. Think you should defo go and rehome another kitten :) All that lovely company for them and beautiful clean air home, a cat would love it :) x
  12. hey soozie, good to see you here :) xx
  13. Hi Trish, sorry to hear you relapsed but agree that what's done is done. I just want to say, I gave up so many times from last July to this March I lost track, however each failure brought something to THIS quit so I could make it stick. I think it's healthy to see where we failed and the thoughts that led us there - then we use these to nail the basta*d down this time. xx
  14. Juan, I found looking at the info on whyquit.com really motivational. Also when I got craves I got up and did something, shuffle dance, cleaned, sipped water, walked, jog on the spot. I found the craves past faster if I had a physical "do something" response. xx
  15. gutted that I'll probs be asleep by the time this kicks off again :( Missed the last one too being a larry lightweight :( Just in cases though, what time for the UK?

    Spring

Sunshine, drying washing on the line, growing my lovely garden, harvesting herbs and flowers to make beautiful things or eating fresh produce :) Having to pressure wash the patio cause it's a bit manky, slug patrols *shudder*, more beasties :(
  17. Awesome work Juan! Truly believe you can do it, picture yoursmoke free life and how wonderful it would be! Write a list of all the reasons you don't want to be a smoker anymore and why you choose a non smoking life now. Get a plan ready for when cravings hit, will you sip water, sing, yell nope...whatever you want, just don't smoke!! You can totally do this!! x
  18. 3 weeks quit and used my savings to put a deposit and payment plan on new dishwasher today. BEYOND EXCITED!

wow...that's amazing what we can do with money saved by not smoking. Way to go Marti!

  19. Tracey, I am sorry to hear there is trouble on the home front, I also know you are aware smoking won't solve it or change it. However if a friendly ear can help I am happy to lend it. xx
  20. Apparently I've been overly positive on this board so have run out of likes -but I loved reading your post. Thank you for sharing.
  21. lol, we were teenage sweethearts (well 2 year age gap, I was a cougar, oops!) so he's known me 21 years as we remained friends inbetween dating. He'll be fine, I think he may be an emotional sadist ;) I keep telling him his life wouild be dull without me...shhhhh, I think he buys into it :) I bought him beers and will make him a nice dinner and may engage a bit of flattery heehee. I am pretty lucky most of the time but keep it on the down low!
  22. oh god it was awful Sharon. I got drunk and told him I had no idea why he was with me?! What I meant was when I was so emotional at the moment, but I don't think it made much sense at all! Can't wait to see him later lol. Take 2 at being reasonable haha. I'm cooking him a nice dinner!! Seriously, can't be trusted out alone at the moment! Now I gotta wonder why he is actually, he must love living life on the edge?!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
