  1. I had some symptoms from quitting that lasted for months but eventually went away so yes, your body will adjust at some point. If you are concerned about anything, speak to your Dr. about it. In terms of the strong cravings, I know that I was still getting cravings to smoke in my 2nd month of quitting. I think it was almost 3 months before cravings turned into mere thoughts about smoking. I still think about it probably daily but it's just a thought - not a craving to light up a smoke. In fact, at this point, I find it hard to imagine myself as a smoker. I sometimes think; Gee, it would be really nice to have a smoke right now. Then, I really think about it and I absolutely know that if I ever lit up a smoke, I would be VERY disappointed after I smoked the one cigarette - I just know this would be the result so I completely dismiss the thought and that's that :D
  2. You're probably right. That's OK though because it's been cold & rainy this summer where I am so laying by the pool in 100+ degree heat will be just what I need ;)
  3. Good job Colleen :) Weight reduction is not easy and takes a lot of self discipline.
  4. True :) NP has been hospitalized as a result of misadventure at least once in their life?
  5. Or .........................................
  6. Coleen s/b 4 I will be 5 :)
  7. Hey mfic - watch yourself with that big hurricane coming ashore south of you. Wishing you the best :) A lot of rain coming your way I expect :o
  8. The milestones I focused on up til now were: 1 day 1 week 2 weeks 1 month 3 months 6 months All those have been achieved and some of that time wasn't easy nor did I know whether I could make them or not at times  My next one is 1 full year :D It's still a long way off for me yet but for some reason, 7,8,9, 10 & 11 months just holds no special meaning to me. I'm going for the holy grail in quitting - dream big ;)
  9. Congrats Jewel on reaching the 2 month mark. I know you are still fighting but also are at the point where you are seeing the benefits of quitting so just carry on doing what you have been doing and you will be just fine. Be sure to treat yourself for reaching this new milestone :) I can't wait to post up your 1/4 year celebration next month!
  10. Congratulations Leanna on achieving this amazing milestone! I'm sure your life is so much better in so many ways after five years without smoking. Thanks for setting such a great example for those of us coming along after you :) Be sure to celebrate this fantastic achievement!!
  11. Yes - looking forward to all of that and this one is a pretty long flight so the entire ordeal will be pretty much a whole day but no need for a smoke now!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
