  7. Great post BTR!! You have encapsulated what we pretty much all feel as we go through that first part of our quit. I'm glad you are focusing on the positives you are already enjoying. Those just get more plentiful as time goes on And yes, pride in what you have accomplished is one of those things that most of us don't expect when we start out but it's a huge added bonus! Yes - be sure to celebrate your early victory! You have had to work hard for it so take some time to smell the roses
  8. Thanks but, this is a party for the whole train!! You will be attending too in fact, it's more important for you new quitters to join in the celebrations for these milestones so you can see just how possible it is to quit long term. I know it looks so distant to you now but as I look back, 1 year ago today ...... I was still 2 days away from even thinking about quitting. This is now YOUR turn to shine

  13. Latoya it was probably 5 or 6 months for me where I would go though at least short bouts of "I want a smoke" inside my head then, I think just through having read so much material on smoking and the addiction it really is I realized one day, I actually no longer wanted to smoke as a free choice I was making on my own without being pushed to make that choice. That was when I knew I had broken the back of my struggle. It was a happy realization to make. We are all different and the timing is not the same for all but, stick with your quit and daily NOPE to yourself and you too will find your moment when you realize smoking is in your past permanently

  19. Me too. I had bronchitis real bad for a month when I finally threw in the towel on smoking. It actually may have been a blessing that I was so sick during that first week or so.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
