  2. The yungin's will have no clue about the egg thing. Why shit! Took me longer to figure that out than it did to quit smoking
  3. Don't forget folks, we are addicts and as such, you will always be tied mentally to that addiction so it will never be like it didn't ever happen but once you have adjusted every aspect of your lifestyle to functioning as a non-smoker, you will be very comfortable with the whole thing and any thoughts you might have of smoking at that point will be just that; thoughts and memories of a past lifestyle. Personally, I'm glad of the occasional reminders. It reminds me that I am a nicotine addict and I know from everything I have learned here about this addiction that if I have "just 1", I will become a full time smoker again and I've worked too hard to ever want to go back there

  8. Hi WoW! Welcome to our family of non smokers. You are still very young and not smoked for all that long really so although you may not be concerned about health issues now, you are likely to at some future point so, quitting now is the best decision you could make for yourself. It's great that you want to quit for your girlfriend but, honestly, you need to want to do this for yourself to be successful long term. You're not likely to want to hear what I have to say about vaping but I do believe you need to quit smoking everything if you want to be successful long term. As you have seen yourself, when vaping isn't available, you will always gravitate back to smoking cigarettes. Quit them all is the best, and frankly, the only way to truly become smoke free. And yes, you can do it just as the rest of us here have done it. Stick around for support from like minded people and read, read, read all the information available here about this addiction. Take the NOPE pledge daily (Not One Puff Ever). These are the keys to quitting Your freedom awaits if you want to work hard for it
  9. Big 'ol NOPE in honor of the Winter Olympics
  10. And I'll provide her with the frying pan Be Good now Mr. "T".
  11. Oh Yes she does indeed!! Congrats Latoya!! You're doing great. Shame on me for missing your big day I was asleep at the switch!! (Actually, I was shoveling snow - lol). Next month you can start measuring your quit in fractions of a year
  12. Congratulations Ron! 9 Months is a great quit. You are 3/4 of the way to your 1st full year without smoking. Keep up the great work and you'll be on that Lido Deck before you know it
  13. Hi and welcome to Quit Train RVQ! Congrats on having 9 months quit under your belt. That's impressive! We have a whole library of Joel's videos here although you may have seen them all by now if you were part of the Why Quit community. You are correct in your statement about "Understanding". Knowledge about this addiction and how it works is truly the key to quitting successfully long term Oh and, another Cold Turkey guy here as well. Get the Nicotine out ASAP was my thought! Other methods may work for some but I'm glad I went CT!
  14. Hello .................... Test; 1,2,3. Anyone out there???
  15. Welcome back Evelyn. I was expecting you sooner actually. You were here when I joined a little over 1 year ago and had multiple quit attempts in the first couple of months that I was at this place struggling to free myself of this horrible addiction. So, now I am 1 year quit and am as sure as I can be that I will never smoke again and you are back here looking to start again from the very beginning. So what is different between you and me? Nothing! We are both nicotine addicts and always will be. I don't know you personally so I can't comment on what is in your head in terms of how you approach quitting and what has happened to you in the past that has seen you be unsuccessful. What I can tell you about me is that I read everything I could here in terms of posts, the pinned stuff on the main page and I watched a lot (not all) of the videos available here on quitting. I also came here a lot, particularly in the beginning months. I posted, I read posts, I played stupid games just to keep my mind occupied and distracted from the constant urges to smoke. Was it easy - no!! It was damned hard at times but I didn't think it would be easy. I put up with all that bullshit that you know very well is coming your way when you quit. I kept telling myself, "this will get easier and better sometime and it will be so worthwhile when it does. You know what? It did and it IS so much better. So you know the drill probably better that I do. Put in your time. Pay your dues and just Never Take Another Puff - NOPE! Oh, and don't worry about anyone else but yourself because that's where all your focus needs to be for quite a long while until you have this thing under control. Focus on the positives that can come with quitting - not the negatives. That too makes a big difference
  16. Congratulations Berk!! That 1st month is a huge challenge and you got through it in style with the knowledge that you were far better off as a non-smoker! Never look back Berk - only forward to much better days ahead
  17. Wow! Congratulations MD!! 9 Months is a real solid quit. Just think, next month double-digits! Keep up the great your and you'll soon be on the Lido Deck
  18. ^^^ Exactly!! Don't take any bullshit from your addict brain. You have planted some good footings for a solid quit base but, know that this addiction takes some time to beat back into the far recesses of your mind. I was always impatient to see improvements and never though I could see any but then, 1 year later I turned around and found I don't give a crap about smoking any more. It will happen fully for you pr anyone else - just give it time and keep that attitude of "Smoking does nothing good for me"!! Because .... it's doesn't!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
