  1. Way to go GITW! You're doing so well and giving so much to the community here at the same time. Those smoke free months are really starting to add up. Sky's the limit for you now my friend
  2. Wow! 11 Months smoke free, congrats Huntressd! Better start packing for the Lido Deck
  3. That's very appropriate. Ice-Fishing! We do a lot of that here in the Great White North. It's also referred to as "an excuse to go drinking outdoors in winter". Been ice fishing many times and never caught much other than a hangover
  4. You'll be happy to know, there's an exercise and healthy living page here too. Not sure if it was here when you were here before or not
  5. Welcome MDSA (for short lol) What Jillar said! Look forward to getting to know you and following your forever quit
  6. Craving a cigarette is fine and it is normal in the early stage of your quit. Smoking one is not OK. You are in control of the outcome always
  7. Back to fishin talk. Let me splain. You drive out into the country and see a stream running off to one side of the road. You park, get your fishin' gear out the trunk and start walking up this unknown, babbling brook, casting your lure here and there in the pools that form around fallen logs and the like. Pretty soon you got a satchel full of the best tasting little Brookies you can imagine. My Gawd - That's like the best day ever!!! OK fish story over. Back to your regularly scheduled programing
  8. It's hockey D ........ you know THAT game with a stick?
  9. No Doubt ?
  10. Agreed - Caps it is, even though OV can be a bit of a jack-ass at times. You're right Jo. The Caps and particularly their fans deserve it. They have so often been in the running early on but have always fell short. You gotta admit though. For the Vegas team to have gotten this far in their 1st season is nothing short of incredible ? Although I don't care deeply who wins, which ever way it goes it will be a dream come true for one team Wonder what the Vegas odds were and are now on them winning it all - lol!
  11. You did all the right things lml. You can trust your instincts and follow them when confronted like this again. The addiction is learning who the new boss is
  12. Huge congratulations Put!! 1 Year smoke free is such a momentous occasion. Grab a lounge on the Lido Deck and take it all in. You have arrived
  13. Wow - 6 Years and you are also still here mentoring new quitters! Both are major accomplishments and something to be proud of. Treat yourself to something extra special today! Oh - was supposed to be Chippendale Dancers not, Chipmunk Dancers!! Oh well, enjoy just the same
  14. I often tried the "cut-back" thing but I could never make it last more than a few days at most. I was always back to my normal smoking amount in no time. According to this, I guess it really wouldn't have made a difference anyway.
  15. Nope! I'm still around and not going anywhere for long, although I'm out of town off and on for a while yet with some limited access issues. Besides, Mr. Titwank would be devastated if I left ?
  16. Yes Givi! This is the most dangerous lie there is from this addiction no matter whether you're 1 day, 1 month or 5 years quit. That little voice that whispers it's sweet little lie to you. "Just one can't hurt! Go ahead, take the edge off. Remenis for old time sake! What harm can just 1 do?" Yup - that's the famous con that has ruined more quits than any other circumstance I know of across new and seasoned quits alike. You're right Givi - Don't ever fall for it!!

  18. You always quit for yourself first Kate but the added benefit is that your grand kids will never have memories of you as a stinky smoker. You can hug them all you want for as long as you want and not have to worry that you smell of stale cigarette smoke
  19. Forgot to tell ya ..... payday's on Friday
  20. How did you get hold of my interview tape ?

  22. It's official folks. The Celebration Thread Torch is being passed to our wacky lovable quitter Jo It's time that this important thread was under the control of a new generation quitter. Someone who can inject new life and add their own special touch to the daily celebration notices. I know Jo will do a bang-up job so .... go get 'em Jo! Now without further ado, the passing of the Torch

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
