  1. ^^^ Hey! Sweden almost scored right after I posted my post above so ..... best not change anything. I expect Sslip is busy doing Hail-Mary's or sacrificing a small animal to the footie Gods ?
  2. Oh - 2 zip now! Looks like England is going to take this one
  3. +1 eh?
  4. 3 (NOPE)!
  5. Thanks for posting this Jillar! I am not a social media person at all. I was skeptical that "joining an internet forum" to help myself quit smoking but like others, a couple days into my quit, I was reeling mentally and knew I needed something to help me get through those early days. I too googled "quit smoking forums" and came up with a couple that appeared interesting. I joined right away rather than lurking and started to participate in the discussions because some of the things these people were taking about was what I was now experiencing myself! This was the realization that, I was not alone in my struggles! I continued to participate and read everything I could about this addiction. I found that education about nicotine addiction was another key to my successful quit. Fast forward to today and I would say that joining a support group like this is the best decision I have made in terms of helping myself get through the process of quitting. I was really surprised at how much help and how much fun a place like this could be. These people won't do the hard work for you. YOU have to do that yourself but, you can rest assured there will be many people here that you can turn to or who will even come to you and relate exactly to what you are experiencing at any given stage of your quit. You have nothing to lose and maybe everything to gain. And, it costs nothing but the time you devote to it
  6. Congratulations Nancy on your 5th year smoke free anniversary! That is an amazing achievement and the fact that you have also helped and mentored so many others along the way is even more amazing. Thanks you and congrats again. I hope you treat yourself to something very special today

  10. Edit +1 We needed Sslip back to dive us sticks to victory
  11. I'm unloading the beer right now! Oh Boy ....... that was close!
  12. Holy cow Weegie! 8 months quit already and rolling along the quit train tracks toward that Lido Deck. You're doing fabulous with your quit, supporting others and getting yourself in better shape all at the same time. Now, that shows strength of commitment!
  13. Great work JB! 9 Months is huge. As pointed out already, the 3/4 marker and those last 3 months will fly by. Before you know it we'll be hauling you out of that lifeboat you set sail in 9 months ago and placing you smack dab in the plushest lounge on the Lido Deck (Que the applause)
  14. Ahhhh Yes Poconos! Very similar indeed. A nice area for sure. There's a nice race track there as well or, at least used to be. Oops .... High-side
  15. That area, which I assume is the same as in your profile background, is very similar to cottage country in Ontario Canada. Lots of very nice lakes and cottages. Everyone heads there for the weekends during summer months. So nice and relaxing. Hear the loons calling at dawn as a new day begins That must be upstate N.Y.?

  17. Nope! I'm a nicotine addict who no longer smokes.
  18. Yes!! This was me exactly too Wayne I still remember taking a few harsh drags off the e-cig then thinking immediately; the was a let down. I'm going out for a smoke
  19. Paradise! All is see that's missing is ..... a cold one
  20. ^^^ Maybe, I just haven't heard anything except moaning and groaning about the fact they didn't have enough warning time - lol. They've been talking this sh*t for the last 4-5 years! I'm sure there's options out there
  21. True, we all have our own approach and hey, if it works for you then it's the RIGHT approach no matter what it is. I was just surprised at the number of people claiming it worked for them.
  22. And I forgot to mention earlier, the "Leafy Green" becomes legal all across Canada October 17, 2018. Each Province will regulate it's sale and distribution, personal growing restrictions and the like. The cops haven't a clue about how impairment while driving will work or what method they will use for detection. Almost guaranteed the whole thing will be one big cluster fu*k. Geez, talk about creating a whole new revenue stream for all levels of government? That's tough to do these days. I guess our Prime Minister, Mr. Photo-Op has to do something to raise revenue, now that Trump is kicking his a*s on the trade front ? Oops ... did I just get off on a political tangent - sorry!
  23. So you went from cigs to Vape then nothing? How long did you vape for? Just curious. This is what the people who called into that radio show all claimed. They went off cigs and vaped for 3-6 months then quit vaping too. As Martian5 saind above, that has not been my experience based on what I have seen myself in real life. Sure I guess it happens but I think it's pretty rare. BTW, Whispers, I found it so harsh on my throat I tossed the vape pen I had in less than a week. I never found it as satisfying as a cigarette either. Maybe I had low dose nicotine juice. Don't know. Someone gave me the pen with a juice cartridge in it already.
  24. This was one of the arguments that was being made on the radio by the NO side, about how this "vape juice" is flavored and some of the flavors seem to be ones that would appeal to the younger set. Very similar to the old time cigarette ads where glamorous life style was linked with smoking. Marketing! Grow the product base. On the pot side, you make a good point DD. Even for a pretty regular user I expect we are talking one, maybe two a day if that, unless you are a heavy user? I was never a fan anyway but since I quit the ciggies, I now just don't want to put anything other then air into my lungs. I have damaged them already way too much for way too long. I think I too would go the edibles route if I wanted to partake
  25. Nice one Octain!! 6 Months now; 1/2 way to that Lido Deck and probably feeling a lot better about things that that first month or so. This one's a BIG one so go celebrate your achievement! Weather's fine so why not take a spin on your bike

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
