  1. OO Good work Sticks!
  2. Great work Z! Glad you are still nurturing your quit and I agree 100%. Get done with it asap so you can start enjoying all the benefits of being a nonsmoker. In my mind, going to vape is just trading one vice for another no matter which one in safer or worse than the other. You are still feeding your addiction.
  3. OMG - that's an insane volume of clean up work to do in such a short time frame! Clearly I need to bring in more workers!
  4. Sorry to interrupt the beginning of your lovely festivities Jo but I need to know how long I have before the next Lido Deck Party? Things were ship shape for Nancy's festivities yesterday but then last night one of my spotters reported a rather unfortunate and messy Taco Tuesday incident over in the men's shower room on Lido Deck. I'm looking for clean-up volunteers but so far ...... no takers ? Worst case , I may have to address this one myself. Now, where did I leave that Hasmat suit?
  5. So, I gather England is into the final 4 now? What's their odds now I wonder? Not even sure who they play next but, given that all the favs are out pretty much .... I figure it's anybody's for the taking now!
  6. Should this be in the exercise thread?
  7. Not really - lol! It's basically the F-Word and it's roots are in the strong rural Catholic upbring of the mostly Separatist community. It would sort of be like those guys in the movie Deliverance where the dueling banjos song was played only ..... the French Canadian backwoods instead of Virginia or Arkansas or where ever that movie was shot in.
  8. Tabernac!! (Unless you're French Canadian - you probably won't get it ?)
  9. Pretty sure that's what happened to Mr. Titwank; aka: Stewie Tech ? (Sorry Babe )
  10. NOPE! No beard & no Pabst Blue Ribbon in hand ..... LOL!
  11. I'm older than dirt but I have watched the progression of distractions from "real life" over at least three generations and although the vehicles are different; the principle of seeking distraction to your real world is the same no matter what the generation. Even in my mother's day ( the first generation I have observed) she had the radio on constantly! I woke up every single morning to her singing to some big-band type song which used to drive me crazy at the time but now ..... I wish I could wake up and hear that again today ? My only point is that every generation needs an escape from reality. I would agree that today's kids are way over the top mostly anyway in terms of their distraction time. Maybe that's just because life seems that much faster and harer these days. Then again .... that may seem so just because "I'm older than dirt"!

  13. I've been laying low since my make-over ?
  14. Well; it's always something that distracts a generation from the stark reality of real life. Cell phones and tablets these days, video games and lap tops years ago and TV before that. Even Thomas Edison was looking for distractions even back in his day ?
  15. Holy crap Sparkzzz! You are 3/4 of the way to the Lido Deck today! How awesome is that? I hope you celebrate big time before making that final run to the Lido Deck
  16. ^^^ Hey! Sweden almost scored right after I posted my post above so ..... best not change anything. I expect Sslip is busy doing Hail-Mary's or sacrificing a small animal to the footie Gods ?
  17. Oh - 2 zip now! Looks like England is going to take this one
  18. +1 eh?
  19. 3 (NOPE)!
  20. Thanks for posting this Jillar! I am not a social media person at all. I was skeptical that "joining an internet forum" to help myself quit smoking but like others, a couple days into my quit, I was reeling mentally and knew I needed something to help me get through those early days. I too googled "quit smoking forums" and came up with a couple that appeared interesting. I joined right away rather than lurking and started to participate in the discussions because some of the things these people were taking about was what I was now experiencing myself! This was the realization that, I was not alone in my struggles! I continued to participate and read everything I could about this addiction. I found that education about nicotine addiction was another key to my successful quit. Fast forward to today and I would say that joining a support group like this is the best decision I have made in terms of helping myself get through the process of quitting. I was really surprised at how much help and how much fun a place like this could be. These people won't do the hard work for you. YOU have to do that yourself but, you can rest assured there will be many people here that you can turn to or who will even come to you and relate exactly to what you are experiencing at any given stage of your quit. You have nothing to lose and maybe everything to gain. And, it costs nothing but the time you devote to it
  21. Congratulations Nancy on your 5th year smoke free anniversary! That is an amazing achievement and the fact that you have also helped and mentored so many others along the way is even more amazing. Thanks you and congrats again. I hope you treat yourself to something very special today

  23. Ahhh ...... NOPE! Congrats on your son's marriage CL

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
