  3. Fore! Boxing Day = the day my wife gets to go spend all my savings on cigarette purchases! (to those in the U.S.; Boxing Day is like your Black Friday at least it is here in Canada)
  4. Congrats Raidermom! 1st month is the hardest and now that's behind you. Well done! Celebrate your victory and carry on building your permanent quit

  7. I had a similar issue for years and the toxic person was a sister who wanted nothing more than to drag everyone down to her level of misery in life. It was almost impossible to get off the phone with her without being simply rude and hanging up. When it comes to family dynamics, it's not always so black and white as just cutting someone out of your life. In my case the issue resolved itself when she died.

  9. I'm happy you took the time to reason things out properly Kate because that's very important! Our minds play tricks on us when there's an addiction involved. Our mind suggests relief from our struggle will be the reward if we give in and light up but that is just a lie. The truth is, we will be back in chains again, a slave to this addiction that brings nothing but misery and even death. Many have come to this realization too late - AFTER they went and bough that pack and lit one up! Stay strong because you are really doing a great job and this post proves you know how to rationalize the pros and cons of smoking. That's a very useful tool to have at your disposal going forward!
  10. Yes the running around and the dinners with family/friends is all a bit much to be squeezed into a few days but I think I would miss it if it were suddenly not there anymore. My stomach does need a rest from all this decadent food though. I've been, well ...... Pigging out!
  11. NOPE! Gotta take the decorations off the tree, No time for smoking!
  12. Another major trigger anticipated, battle waged and won! That's one you'll never have to fear again because you know how to handle it without smoking. That's how our permanent quits are built - one battle at a time; fought & won

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
