  3. Thinking of you and really happy you are celebrating a month of freedom from smoking. Things really improved for me at a month, a month and change. Time is your friend. Remember to reward yourself and be prepared for that random strong crave out of nowhere, don't let it discourage you, be aware H.A.L.T (Hungry, Angry, Lonesome, Tired) Also, I really appreciate your posts, Tiff. Your struggle and success is of great benefit to other quitters.

  13. Sometimes we make it harder than it is. We were real spoiled brats as addicts. I heard my addict voice whine and scream, then I got bored with that and took a baby step away. The sooner you can switch up your thoughts to something positive, the easier it will get. Nicotine is a powerful drug but, not as powerful as you. You will not fail if you fully commit to NOPE. Not One Puff Ever. If you can't deal with the 'ever' part yet, commit to one day, one minute at a time. You are a non smoker, Sandi. That is that. Now, go have some primal screams if you need to !

  16. Have a Great Day, Chris !!!
  17. Never Take Another Puff Not One Puff Ever It is a commitment that ensures success because as addicts, taking just one puff reignites the addiction. That is how quickly it takes over our brain.
  18. Hang in there Sandi and distract yourself any way you can. Do Anything but smoke.
  19. Hello Sandi, Of course You can do this ! Hold tight to your resolve and READ MORE. These threads may help you Your First Days Nicotine Free and 10 Ways to Effectively Use This Forum You have come to the right place. Power through the craves and allow for some discomfort. You are changing your life ! Congratulations . and Yes, your symptoms are completely normal.
  20. It is true, Sharon, that smoking masks underlying health issues and I am so sorry you are experiencing this. That sucks. When I grow up to rule the Universe, there'll be some changes made. :) But, you are so right about choosing freedom over addiction. The burden of being an addict is untenable.
  21. See you tomorrow, Tiff. So glad you checked in and stayed Free. Remember Cristobal's message, You--->Your Quit--->Your Life You may need to remove yourself from the presence of smokers to protect your quit. I did and now, I just can't bear the toxicity of it.
  22. Hey, Tiff. I have to log off so, I'll be leaving chat. I'll try to check in through the evening. Hold on to your quit, you will never have to go through this again. These last nic fits may be more powerful than expected but, never as powerful as you are. You will make it though. Tomorrow will be better. Get a good night sleep. S
  23. what are you thinking about ? Hitting a wall ? only a few more days and you have a month done. It gets radically better, at least it did for me after the first month. I go hang out in chat, join me if you feel like it.
  24. This game has become Farraginous of late. Doesn't anybody care about a small bit of order and the alphabet anymore ?
  25. I just wanted to say that except for a few instances in the first weeks of quitting smoking, when I was definitely foggy, spacey and feeling disconnected during nicotine withdrawal, my mind is a lot more focused since I quit smoking. I attribute this to the unadulterated oxygen entering my bloodstream and to the habit I acquired early in my quit, to take frequent breaks with a handful of deep conscious breaths. This helps to direct my focus and keeps me alert to the task at hand. Of course, being over 60, lists are extremely important ;) but, this breathing technique continues to be an invaluable tool. It also made quick work of defying craves.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
