I agree with all the advice given on this thread @tocevoD You really must come on here at least once a day or more, if you can. It is very important to be on this forum to get the support that you need. This is my 2nd time quit and the first time I went back after 6 years because I didn't have the support that I have now by being a member of this group. They helped me through some really difficult times in the beginning of my quit. We can definitely help you, if you are struggling! So please come on here as much as you can. You will see how much it helps!3 points

Sorry for not posting Genecanuck. I'm at the place I need to be to get posting again now.today is my quit day. As mentioned in previous posts it's easier when I've got my son. Got him till Wednesday night next week. Going out for a drink, which I do rarely, is a gateway as is boredom which I have lots of. I need to occupy my time when my son is not with me. The determination is there again. When you go back to it you realise how it makes you feel. Heartburn, lethargy and wasting money. Time to get back on the train.2 points

Also Struggling Here, My Quitnet Re-post, November 3, 2008 Good morning, Yes, this is me over 15 years ago. I am determined that this is my LAST QUIT. Not one puff ever! Gene Also struggling here From Gym_Genecanuck on 3/11/2008 4:51:57 PM Greetings, I want this quit to be MY LAST!!!! I came here a few days ago, when I was on day four of my last quit... here I go again. I feel like I am sliding sliding sliding and ramping up my smoking to the level it was a few years ago. I was a pack a day smoker; quit in 2004; have had several slips; never really got right off the patch. Have a partner that smokes at home. Today, I is my new Day 1. I am determined not to smoke for the rest of the day. I am heading home and I know that my partner will have cigarettes in the house. He can smoke four cigs a day and keep it at this level. If I have one cigarette, I know that I will be chain smoking. That is my pattern. Once I finish abusing my body, I will go back to a patch and suffer to get the ciggies out of my thoughts and body for a few weeks. This cycle of abuse is insane. Ok, I am finished my rant. I hope to get to know members of this club because I want to make March 2008 the month when I REALLY STOP SMOKING. Big sigh... thanks for listening.....1 point

It’s cost about 12.50 a pkt here in the UK I honestly don’t know how folks can afford to smoke these days1 point

The prices are just insane and we are saving lots of money by not smoking. I remember way back in the day when a pack cost 50 cents, and I said that when it goes up to a dollar, I will quit. Well that didn't happen....LOL!! I waited many more years before I took the plunge!1 point

Fair warning, I’m gonna be blunt here. Not to criticize, but to support the part of you that clearly wants to quit - or else you wouldn’t be here. Nicotine addiction will justify itself in order to maintain its grip on your life. Beware of the web of lies addiction can weave to keep you trapped. As a smoker, I spun out a lot of rationalizations about how smoking was natural, spiritual, mind-clearing, something my soul would be bereft without. In hindsight, it turns out that was 100% crap. Just my excuses to keep smoking. I wasn’t drawn to a higher plane… I was a junkie hooked on nicotine the same as any junkie hooked on heroin. Every person’s journey is their own, and everyone has to come into reckoning with their addiction in their own way. So whatever works for you is great. But at the end of the day, the only way to stop smoking is… to actually stop smoking.1 point
