July 19, 20179 yr I dont miss trying to light a cig in the wind...only for some ash to blow straight in my eye.. And blind me for a minute or two..rub my sore eye..only to have mascara rub all over my face.. Oh the good times.. What don't you miss ???
July 19, 20179 yr Red eyes. Brown fingers. Yellow teeth. Smoke long enough and you end up looking like a page from a colorblind kid's art folder.
July 19, 20179 yr Rationing cigarettes for the evening after I would get home from work and realize that I only had a few left in the pack and I didn't want to go out again to get more.
July 19, 20179 yr There is nothing about smoking that I miss. I don´t even think about it !!! Cristóbal
July 20, 20179 yr I don't miss worrying about every little blip on he radar and what that might mean: Persistent cough? Oh, no! It's lung cancer!! Shortness of breath? There it is... COPD, just like I feared! Twinge in the chest or left arm? Uh-oh.... Here it comes...Maybe I'm having a heart attack now! Yes, I very much realize that I'm no way home free now that I've quit, but at least if something happens now, I won't die a smoker. And somehow, now that I've quit, my mind doesn't go directly to the worst possible thing when I feel something weird or get sick. I attribute at least part of this to the relief from anxiety I've experienced since quitting. I know some folks have had trouble with quit-induced anxiety but for me it's been the opposite. Nicotine makes me anxious, no doubt about it, so that's another thing I don't miss. Good riddance, anxiety! Welcome, peace of mind and body! Welcome, restful sleep!
July 20, 20179 yr $20 bucks a day ! 'Cause when you stop for 2 each $5.00 packs o'smokes, you grab a coffee, the newspsper, a pack of gum, a magazine, and any number of random "impulse buy" crap at the gas station counter. It's now ZERO DOLLARS a day. Diddley-squat Squat. Easy Peasy

Reading your post reminded me of my last few weeks of my 52 year smoking career... I knew something bad was happening..my ankles were so painful..but I had to scratch at the same time..they were turning black..I smoked my last few sitting on my back step, crying all the way through it..this is it..I'm dying.. Daughter dragged me to the doc..STOP now he said..I mean NOW.. Daughter made me promise to fight and give it my best shot.. I was broken when I found these folks..between us..I did it...I still get a buzz of pride.. I don't miss the fear either..living in Fear is no way to live.. I love my freedom...
July 20, 20179 yr There's some powerful stories here. Reading this stuff helps strengthen my resolve which is one of the reasons I really appreciate this place. Now, back on topic - keep 'em coming folks :) I don't miss feeling like a social pariah all the time!

July 22, 20179 yr I don't miss having to leave people/conversations to feed my stupid addiction. I don't miss going out in storms just to feed my stupid addiction. There's lots more too!
July 28, 20179 yr I don't miss the yellow walls, the need to smoke my stress away, the smell, the burn holes in my car (got new car in the last 2 years that I can say I never smoked in) the expense, the excuses as to why i smoked, well I don't miss anything about smoking it has been about 5 years and counting. Lisa
August 2, 20179 yr One other thing I REALLY don't miss about smoking... I no longer have to "want to quit smoking." It's done baby. Smoking is dead like yesterday's news. ;)
August 2, 20179 yr ^^^^ I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm now getting to a very comfortable point where I'm not having to constantly remind myself that I'm quitting smoking. It's just starting to come naturally to me now. The thought of smoking seems unnatural to me at this point. It's a good and happy place to be. One I have been fighting to get to for 6 months now :) I know it will get even better too :)
August 4, 20179 yr One other thing I REALLY don't miss about smoking... I no longer have to "want to quit smoking." It's done baby. Smoking is dead like yesterday's news. ;) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I like that one.
August 7, 20179 yr Don't miss the smell. Don't miss the freaking out when it is time for the next fix.... Don't miss the anxiety of long road trip because you can't smoke..... Don't miss the mess it is a messy habit......Don't miss my son saying omg you stink..... When he was little he would lock me and my mom out the car until we aired out ! I am so thankful he never smoked and didn't have friends that did.
August 8, 20179 yr Don't miss ..making excuses of why I dont quit..I was full of them... Once upon a time, I aborted a quit on the first day because it was raining outside. Don't ask me to explain the rationale behind that nonsense. When an addict looks for an excuse, they always find it.
August 8, 20179 yr Author I once paid good money for a session of acupuncture.... Walked out of the clinic and just lit up...saying to myself how crap it was...one foot in ..and one foot out ..
