January 21, 20197 yr I am having one of those WTF days. My dad, who is in rehab, is not doing well. He is not eating. Decided to make him a pot of my Grandmother's homemade soup. Do you know what it costs to make a pot of soup. By the time you buy all the fresh veggies, shank meat and soup bones, it is a fortune!!!! Then of course I have to make the homemade noodles, so it tastes like his mom's soup. My Grandma would always take the carrots out of the soup and mash them with mashed potatoes to eat with the shank meat. Well, I strained the soup and had the carrots sitting in a bowl on the shelf and one of the dogs ate them. Then I sliced my finger, while trying to clean the marrow out of one of the bones because it is too rich for the dogs. Probably should have gotten stitches but I have seen enough of hospitals lately. We have had three days of snow storm. Went to the store to get more carrots and there was not a carrot in sight. There shipments have not come in because of the weather. GRRRRRRRRR.

January 25, 20197 yr Just came from my retirement dinner! It was small (my choice!) but the people I worked with who matter to me were there....and had some very nice things to say about working for and with me....another chapter in my book has ended...it's exciting and scary at the same time....sort of like when I quit smoking! ? PS. There were only 2 people there that smoke and they had to go out in the pouring rain!!! ?

On other more joyful news Florida is booked and so is a bank holiday weekend festival in August...mind you that's with the current ex, whos still living in my house clearly I'm a rehabilitation zone?! February 10, 20197 yr I'm sure I've had this frickin whinge at least once a year since the frickin kid started school.... but I am sick of the frickin education system here not accepting the fact she is Australian and not from somewhere else.... its not like any other country on earth would accept her as being from there..... its like she has no frickin idientity.... aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... SO school has been back for the new year for 1 frickin week.... and we have already had our first frickin breakdown...... the subject is English... they are reading a book about a child refugee who comes here as a boat person..... and the project... write an essay that answers the following frucking questions..... 1. When did your family first arrive here and what realtion to you were you first ancestors to arrive here. 2. How did they get here. 3. How has Australia changes since they first arrived. OH and according to the Australian frickin curriculum unless your fricking Aboriginal you aren't an Australian you came from somewhere else.... so enter my kid..... who in one line alone is at least the 8th generation of her family to be born here.... the nearest maybe is one of her great-great-great-great-great-grandparents who we know for a fact wasn't born here but other than that we are just guessing how far back the others go... for who we know was and wasn't born here..... so the Poms opened their great southern prison 231 years ago.... and for most of that time my lot have been here.... sure on both sides most of them are from Ireland but I go to ireland and claim to be irish I'd be laughed right out of the country.... the other bits and pieces in her would be even less inclined to accept her as one of theirs.... so we can guess why they came (potato famine, gold rush, criminal transportation, political/religious perrsecution) ..... we can guess when they came we know for some it was before the gold rush .... we know they all came by boat, no other alternatives unless they could frickin teleport and then wot the fruck.... anyway.... she basically has to make up the frickin project... because there are no records, just family stories and guesses... But I'm fruckin pissed the fruck off cos she's basically be told she is nothin.... no frickin identy..... she can't be from Australia cos she isn't a frickin Aboriginal and she can't be from anywhere else cos she's from frickin Australia..... AArrrgggghhhhh.... So in her class of 27 she is the only one who doesn't have at least one great-grand parent who was born overseas and there are only two girls like then everyone else its their parents or grandparents who first came here.
