We all know that certain people were the main trouble makers on the other board, and it was their b.s. that caused us all to flee and come here (thanks, MQ, btw).

 

What if those same people applied here for membership? Would we accept them? And if so, why???? And if not, are there safeguards in place here that would prevent those people from "sneaking in"?

its a concern many have but are afraid to say it.  

 

The environment here will remain safe...regardless of who is here.  In order to have a clean slate...we have to have our side of the street clean as well....  Don't worry...be happy!   :)

my opinion is this.......anyone who wants to come here..it's because they want to come here.  Those that love just to stir the pot won't want to come here because it won't be tolerated.  Kind of takes the fun out of it for them.  I think it will just work itself out that way.  

I understand her concern but I personally think it wont be a problem in my opinion. I think anyone that comes here now will be ones who want to help others but in the future we might get one or two (not from there necessarily) that might be rabble rousers (just want to use that word lol) but it is a forum that itself can attract some goofy peeps but I believe it will be handled properly and fairly :)

We have such as open forum here, things like this can be brought up without issue.  I like that it was brought up here and not on the main boards.

I didn't start anything. I simply asked a question.

Putting my trust in our excellent administrators and moderators to handle the situation competently, should the need arise. :) :D :lol: -_-

I guess the thought might have come to my mind as well....checked if I have an igno button here too..yes I do... problem solved if I have a personal problem with somebodies style!

 

The moderators and admins here are more involved , they don't just "work" part time; although they are ex-smokers and will be able to see the difference if I say "FU**" because I have a bad craving ...or if I say FY just to put somebody down.

 

I have all the confidence in my own judgement as well as in the admins :-)

 

So to sum it up: It's not going to happen!

Not my question to answer - But

 

If somebody wishes to join - they should be welcomed.

 

If their posts cause offence - they should be spoken with.

 

If they upset the balance, action should be taken.

 

An admin and moderators engaged with the board and expert in the reality of quitting will, I am confident, ensure that peace reigns.

I think everyone should be allowed here. It's a totally different atmosphere here and if anyone tries to disrupt it, they will quickly see they are the minority.

 

People are mean cause they are hurting inside. And I really do believe that if someone shows them its ok, we are here for them, then they will be more receptive to being a positive influence.

 

And if they don't, then we find out where they live and egg their house. But we eat the bacon.

 

And no Sarge, we will not use your one egg in the lynching. (didn't want you to panic)

Thanks for bringing this up. I'm sure most of us were thinking it at some point.

 

This place is like a quit smoking paradise at the moment and of course we all want to keep it that way. I'm sure people who do not want that will simply not join.

 

Did I mention that I love the QUIT TRAIN?!

Besides, anybody that signs up has to read our guidelines and the first line says all that they need to know.  :)

The two boards will look exactly alike in a very short time to all outside observation. But, those miniscule differences known to us will yield every bit as much hostility as the fiercest Sunni/Shiite animosity. Barely contained; now and then erupting in a shitstorm.

 

You wanna be a McCoy hating Hatfield? Well then keep trying to forget the one and only phenomenon that sprang this board into existence was admin warning points and bans. No bans here - no problems. Believing this place is some sort of manifestation of a higher glory will keep the feud going until the earth finishes cooling.

 

Check for hubris before donning the white robe,,, and remember it's only the internet :D

These original posts are over 4 years old...clearly something happened over 4 years ago, i don't wanna know what, or who...but it was over 4 years ago, clearly feelings were hurt but we are all grown ups, we are never all going to agree, there are always going to be personality clashes and differences of opinions, this what makes this work great... Please just let bygones be bygones and move onwards and upwards.

 

When the over there poofed into nothingness the QT welcomed us with open arms in an amazing show of solidarity to the quit... No negativity what so ever... And noone here ever publicly told anyone who wasn't even 3 months quit that if the tossed their quit they would be best to just slink off cos they wouldn't be welcome.

There are some Quit boards out there with that policy - if you relapse, you are no longer welcome. Kind of sucks really cause many of us have relapsed at some point in our lives, even if it was after a "four hour quit" (who among us never had one of those?) Neither QT nor QSMB seem to have that policy. Of course back when whatever was happening, I had no clue there ever were smoking nor Quit boards.

 

For whatever drama - yeah, four years later, I think most people involved are probably no longer on any Quit board whether they relapsed or not. There are "lifers" in some boards but most get bored move on after a couple years.

Now Joe, I will not pretend to know you REAL well but I might say -

Um... I know it wasn't nice but can we be the bigger people and let it go and stop giving it oxygen because if we do the whole issue will peter out cos no fire burns in a vacuum. I was hoping by posting a response as an ex-over there I'd take the heat out of an archaic situation and we could all get on with our merry little lives and keep the moral high ground.

 

The Might QT doesn't do this, so lets all nip it in the bud and move on.. Please and thank you very much... lets be the classy chicks and sticks I know we are.
