June 2, 201511 yr Its been a tough long hard few weeks, been in a very dark place while the meds were being changed, and I lost my quit, over the last two weeks I have tried and failed to re-start and find that I am unable to get passed the 48 hour mark, I have chosen a new name symbolising the goddess of courage and strength and my picture is now one of a tiger albeit pink. I have purchased cigarettes again today and I am back to fearing quitting. I just don't know where to go from here. How the hell can I go forward from this. I will be going back to work on Thursday after 5 weeks off...................
June 2, 201511 yr Ok my friend you can go foward again. You have had many months to be a nonsmoker so you know you can do it. How are you choosing to quit? Cold turkey? Or with nrt?

June 2, 201511 yr Sorry. sounds like a lousy time. How do you go forward? Same way as everyone else does Jackie. One foot in front of the other. 1. Pick a date. 2. Commit to Nope 3. Go back to 2. That's all. You can absolutely do this Jackie. But the first step is the tough one. Give us a date.

June 3, 201511 yr So sorry you are struggling my friend. Stop giving yourself an exit route back to smoking. That's how you quit, by not smoking, ever, even if you want to in that moment... you just don't. That Julie post with you just don't stuck with me. New date honey! x
June 3, 201511 yr Oh no Jackie, that sounds like a horrible place to be :( You seem to have got into the mindset where you are making this far harder than it needs to be... I know you've heard this a thousand times before, but it is true, and it really is simple once you can get your mind right - 1. Promise yourself you won't smoke, just for today 2. Don't break that promise Repeat each and every day until such a time that you no longer need to.
June 3, 201511 yr Its been a tough long hard few weeks, been in a very dark place while the meds were being changed, and I lost gave up my quit, over the last two weeks I have tried and failed to re-start and find that I am unable unwilling to get passed the 48 hour mark, I have chosen a new name symbolising the goddess of courage and strength and my picture is now one of a tiger albeit pink. I have purchased cigarettes again today and I am back to fearing quitting. I just don't know where to go from here. How the hell can I go forward from this. I will be going back to work on Thursday after 5 weeks off................... Jackie....what are you afraid of? You do know eventually......you will be forced to quit.....nothing in this life lasts forever..and that includes smoking. Unfortunately...most people smoke till their death. That's the cold hard truth. The ones who DO quit because the chronic illness that gets a hold of them gives them no choice.....what a tragedy to finally quit...only to still be faced with an uphill battle with COPD, Cancer, Heart Disease....that really sucks!!! Please do it now while it is still your choice, love. You have gone through many days of NOPE before..and you didn't die.....as a matter of fact...I recall many many many happy posts from you as a non smoker...so, what's the problem again???????????????????????? Come on dear..........lets get it done...we are here for you every single step of the way. You will be fine...you will be more than fine. Slight uncomfortableness in the first week or 2 but that's all and once you get throught those......you will know that you will never have to go through it again.....and like I said...uncomfortable...but it won't kill you. Smoking will kill you...it will. Lets go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
June 3, 201511 yr I'm on a Pema Chodron kick lately....so I will share this story because it's relevant to quitting smoking and fear and junkie thoughts Once there was a young warrior. Her teacher told her that she had to do battle with fear. She didn’t want to do that. It seemed too aggressive; it was scary; it seemed unfriendly. But the teacher said she had to do it and gave her the instructions for the battle. The day arrived. The student warrior stood on one side, and fear stood on the other. The warrior was feeling very small, and fear was looking big and wrathful. They both had their weapons. T he young warrior roused herself and went toward fear, prostrated three times, and asked, "May I have permission to go into battle with you?" Fear said, "Thank you for showing me so much respect that you ask permission." Then the young warrior said, "How can I defeat you?" Fear replied, "My weapons are that I talk fast, and I get very close to your face. Then you get completely unnerved, and you do whatever I say. If you don’t do what I tell you, I have no power. You can listen to me, and you can have respect for me. You can even be convinced by me. But if you don’t do what I say, I have no power." In that way, the student warrior learned how to defeat fear. ”― Pema Chödrön,

June 17, 201511 yr Author Back Needed to hear all those words above again I thank you all, only I and I can do this and I have to want to, the addiction takes hold so very easily, but listening to a young husband talking about how his wife passed in his arms and watching his tears fall made me realise I do not want this to be me, this could so easily be me, only I have the power to stop this from happening. NTAP and NOPE is the way forward, one step in front of the other and yes Bakon the windows tasted dirty..............
