April 10, 201412 yr I do thank you for the replies..............I rather use communication with my own words to tell someone that I agree or don't with what they say.........of course the nodding of the head is a quicker way to send an acknowledgement when face 2 face..............and I can see how one can use the "like" feature to substitute the nodding........yet..............I do believe that a written forum like this one and countless others need to keep the words flowing.........one's own words.............the substance of our feelings, the concretization of our thoughts.......words...............words...........communication.....forum............messages..................Today's electronic life style tends to steal the words from us............making us "clickers" instead of talkers/writers...........................it is such an interesting topic I think......................words are priceless, just like freedom ................they can touch someone's soul deeper than a "like"...............further than a "star"...................... There have been almost 10,000 posts in just a week. I think there is plenty of written words. :)

I also use it to let people know that I have replied to them directly. It's a neat feature. Unfortunately, like everything, likes can be used for evil. Ultimately if the user wants to hurt someone, they can do it with a like or do it with a comment... So taking likes away is not going to stop anything IMO. Not a fan of the stars though.

April 10, 201412 yr I don't even know what the stars do. Understand the concern about the likes, but the same could be said about many people commenting on one post and not the other. To me, hitting like says "I like this post, but I have nothing to add". My opinion as well. Full disclosure, I don't own a cell phone and type with two fingers so clicking "like" is faster than making a reply. I'm not on Facebook so I didn't understand "like" at first and should have used them more. For your posts Soul, I'll remember to make a reply. :)

Although, I did hate running out. I'm good either way. Um....Ava, you are crackin' me up! Soul, I totally see where you are coming from. There, see, I'm a libra, I can't make a decision. ;) Oh, and Sarge, I love Tommy Lee Jones. I suppose I love that one character he plays!! :D
