After his heart surgery he had sweats and thought he was dying and nurse came and comforted him while in the hospital when he woke he tried to thank the nurse but she didn't exist hence the angel with a hand on his head. He actually wrote this song while in an empty house with one chair and a guitar he was being evicted from his house after insurance ****** him over so he wrote it while looking out over LA as the sun was coming down hence the put your lights on the time when everyone turns their house lights on..
