June 21, 20215 yr Author Maddie was the perfect little guest of honor at her birthday party. She really enjoys the attention and entertained the guests. She didn't really get into her presents until yesterday, the little gal seemed a bit overwhelmed by all the gifts. The Walker Wagon is getting used regularly now. She puts various items in her little pink bucket, puts the bucket in the wagon, and off she goes. My mom and dad got her a rocker plane. It's a little bi-plane built on a rocker that she can ride. My in-laws got her a beanbag chair. She's not sitting in the chair much, but she does enjoy falling into it. Lots of toys. Lots of new clothes. The little gal made out like a bandit. My sister made a couple of strawberry cakes. A smaller one just for the birthday girl and larger one for the rest of us. Maddie did a number on her cake. She had it on her hands, arms, face...I think some of it even made it into her mouth. A quick bath and a change of clothes were in order after the cake. It was a good day for the Birthday Girl.
June 21, 20215 yr Aww...What lovely gifts....the plane rocker sounds fun ... Glad it all went well....and the guest of honour was delighted with all the fuss.... I love she has a pink bucket lol.... Mammy and Da Da...did her proud ....❤️ Edited June 21, 20215 yr by Doreensfree
June 22, 20215 yr Author Happy Birthday to the lovely Miss Maddie. So much change and so many firsts in one short year. I talked yesterday about the gifts the little gal got for her birthday. All the presents in the world pale in comparison to what Maddie has given me and Sugar Britches. A love like no other. As much joy as two people can possibly contain. A lifetime of memories in just twelve short months...the list goes on. Maddie has given us the best year of our life and the adventure is only just beginning. Let us raise a toast to the sweetest little girl in the world.

June 22, 20215 yr Author Had a special father-daughter dance with the Birthday Girl this morning. This song has been on regular rotation since Maddie was just a newborn. The first time I played it for her, she was only a few days old and duh-da-da got all emotional. This morning, I held her and danced around the house. She giggled while I sang, which is not an inappropriate response considering my lack of vocal range. Special dedication going out to Miss Maddie on her big day...

If you enjoy the writings of a proud papa bragging about his little girl...stay tuned, Miss Maddie gives me plenty to brag about. Saturday during the birthday party, I was holding Maddie and overheard my sister-in-law tell Sugar Britches: "look at the way she looks at him." Sugar Britches replied: "she loves her daddy." Needless to say, I was bursting with pride. Maddie is my little buddy. As she gets more mobile, she follows me wherever I go. She followed me into the kitchen last night. Cash figured there might be food involved so he tagged along as well. I'm working up a convoy. People let me tell you 'bout my best friend...
June 23, 20215 yr Aww.....It's nice to hear lovely things in this mad world Boo.... Keep writing ...we love reading ... Daddy,s little girl ....❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
June 30, 20215 yr I am so happy for all of you Boo, when a child enters the world you are truly blessed. It was and always be the greatest day of my life. It makes only sense that she knows you are her Daddy, I am sure you have been talking to her these last nine months. I believe babies can hear you or pick up on the vibrations of your voice. yes there are hard times ahead lack of sleep, no hot meals or meals together as she dictates and of those poopy diapers. My husband always came in with lysol spray in the side of his pants LOL he was just being the funny guy. Welcome to a lifetime of joy, adventure and pride. K y
July 6, 20215 yr Author Miss Maddie had an eventful weekend. She's making big strides in the walking department. Actually little short strides, but you know what I mean. She's able to walk longer distances without holding on to anything. When she tumbles over, she will crawl to something to pull herself back up and she's off to the races again. She was out in the backyard yesterday and hit a downhill stretch. She stayed up for a bit, her little legs churning to keep up with the momentum. She eventually succumbed to the force of gravity. When she toppled over, she had a little grin on her face...I think she actually enjoyed it. And in other news: the little gal is looking like a natural swimmer. We spent time on the river on Saturday and were invited to a neighbor's pool on Sunday. I would put my hand under her belly for support and almost immediately, she started swimming. It was kind of a cross between a freestyle stroke and a doggy paddle. In the pool, she could briefly stay afloat without any assistance. She's toddling. She's swimming. Miss Maddie is going places by land and sea.

July 6, 20215 yr Ahh little Miss Maddie, so lovely,, I took a guess at how the Miss Maddie posts would look in the year 2034, something like this:

Maddie was entertained by my diving in the water. She would laugh, clap, and then point back to where I jumped in from. "Duh-da-da" she said, that was my cue to jump in again. I never would have guessed that all that time I spent showing off in hopes of impressing a girl was just training for keeping my daughter entertained. 14 minutes ago, StevenHere said: Ahh little Miss Maddie, so lovely,, I took a guess at how the Miss Maddie posts would look in the year 2034, something like this: I told Sugar Britches that when Maddie hits her teens and starts dealing with hormones and other "girl issues" I was going to hand the keys over to her. "You were a teenage girl once, that stuff is in your wheelhouse." She shot me right down, said: "Nope, we're in this together." The only advice my dad gave me on raising a teenage girl is: "It's kinda like dancing with a chainsaw, you're never really leading."

I really do need to figure out how to archive this thread and the "One on the Way!" thread that I started when I found out I was going to be a father. This has been the most extensive journaling of welcoming Maddie to the world that I have done anywhere.

July 7, 20215 yr In Microsoft Edge @Boo, you can add each page to a collection for offline viewing. Once you add all the pages you can send it to Word, excel, Onenote or Pinterest. In word you can format and print it out. I don't know if the pictures and videos will send too well but the print should I would imagine the other browsers have something similar as well. Right clicks will show you your options. Or you can take screnshots maybe? Edit to add: In Firefox browser you can add each page to pocket (upper right hand side, next to address bar) Edited July 7, 20215 yr by jillar
July 7, 20215 yr You can go to top of page here , highlight copy then paste into a file on your computer , both titles if you have another ok . From there you can edit in a word document . Anything of importance always save somewhere to your computer , and if you aren't computer literate then get a paper copy . You never know what a site might do , or if you go . Trust me you need to save this somewhere other than just here and do something more with this Boo . I am a total stranger and this story touched me and from the looks of it everyone here . I know it will touch other moms dads grandparents every where if you want to share it . We need more beautiful stories like this one in the world today . But if it goes no further than in your daughters hope chest it's something to treasure for a life time ! Another suggestion ... here at our local library you can print your own books relatively cheap right in the library , ( self publishing ) check that out in your area. I've seen others who've done children's books for their kids there and they look awesome . Much cheaper and very professional looking . @Boo Edited July 7, 20215 yr by Abby
