Miss Maddie is ten-months old today and seemingly getting more adventurous and curious by-the-day.

The little gal is still cruising but experimenting with letting go and trying to stand and walk on her own.  I will hold her hands and give her some assistance with walking.  Right now she lifts her knees straight up when she walks, always looks like she's walking through snow.

When Maddie is not practicing walking and pulling up, she really enjoys emptying out cabinets and drawers that she can reach.  I never would have guessed that spreading rolls of toilet paper, Q-tips, and bars of soap across the bathroom floor would be so much fun, but she really enjoys it.

Presumably, Maddie is preparing for a pageant or parade; she is practicing her hand waving regularly now.  She likes to wave at me and Sugar Britches anytime we walk into the room.  She has become a bit of a local celebrity down at the grocery store.  Sugar Britches typically goes grocery shopping early on a weekday.  There are a lot of older people in the store at that time.  Maddie waves at them and tries to talk to them.  The old folks think she is the cutest thing ever...I agree.

The little gal has come a long way in just ten months.

Miss Maddie will be taking her first beach vacation in a couple of weeks.  We confirmed everything this morning, and have a little bungalow on the beach reserved at St. George Island in Florida.  This will be the little gal's first road trip and her first dip in the ocean.

Shout out to Sugar Britches for putting this trip together.  This feels like it's going to be the best birthday celebration I've ever had.

Maddie is adapting to the beach bum lifestyle.  She got a couple of new swimsuits for the trip and tried one of them on last night.  She didn't want to take it off and it was just a couple of hours before bedtime, so we just let her wear it the rest of the night...you learn to pick your battles.

At one point, she was lounging on the couch in her swimsuit and sunhat with a sippy cup resting on her belly.  The only missing ingredients were sand and water.

Have a great day today Sweetheart.....frolicking in the Sea and Sand ....it's nearly your Big Day ....

There was plenty of frolicking going on.  Miss Maddie took to the beach like a natural.  She loved sitting at the shoreline as the waves rolled in.  She would laugh and clap every time the next round came in.  I modified a tandem kayak so Maddie had her own custom seat in the middle.  It was a proud moment for me introducing my little girl to the joys of paddling.  Maddie, being the natural entertainer that she is, enjoyed doing pratfalls in the sand.  Yet another proud moment for Papa Boo, the little gal appreciates slapstick comedy.

The trip went well.  Looks like the Boo Crew is going to be scheduling at least one beach trip a year from now on.

Wow, I can't believe she's 11 months old already!

Same here.  Hard to believe that the little bundle we brought home from the hospital is approaching one year-old now.  We used to worry when she cried.  Now we worry when she's quite, that's when she finds things to get into.

Good to see you back ,all safe and sound ...

Oh !!! What fun ....you paint a great picture of our cutie ..so happy your break away was full of excitement.

I agree ..where has this year gone ....this time last year we were all guessing the sex and weight ...

Wow!!!...now Maddie is nearly walking ...

But wait ...this means I'm also older ...pfft.....🤔

Oh Boo.  I love you sharing your days with that little girl.  You just beam with love for her.  She has the best daddy in the whole world.  The time you spend with her will turn into cherished memories.  Those special moments are more important than anything you can buy for her.

That little girl is easy to love.

It's not just the milestones that I'll remember.  Sometimes, it's the little things.  Down in Florida, Maddie slept between me and Sugar Britches every night.  She would wake up in the morning with her hair sticking up in every direction and flash a little sleepy-eyed grin...sweetest little girl in the world.

I'm rather fond of the little gal.

I have a new title: "duh-da-da."

I wasn't expecting three syllables, but it's a nice bonus.  I like to think this is Maddie's way of not only calling me da-da, but letting the world know that I'm the da-da.

Between the trip to Florida a couple of weeks ago and spending time at the lake this weekend, it has become obvious that Miss Maddie loves the water.  Temperatures were unseasonably cool this weekend, so we didn't do much swimming.  Maddie did enjoy her time out on the kayak and was able to get a good up close look at a largemouth bass that duh-da-da caught.

Miss Maddie loves the water and enjoyed camping.  Looking forward to many good times ahead.

You are of course the duh- da-da....

I see great times ahead for you two....Messing about on the River ...

I'm sure that was a song !!!!!

Well the Kayak will be a big crowded with me and Maddie in there with you ..

But the more the merrier I say ...

Nice to hear you been having fun in between hard work ...❤️

Maddie's fascination with the water continues.  We rarely have the television on anymore and when we do, Maddie pays little to no attention to what is on the screen.  Last night was different.  We were watching some of the U.S. Olympic diving trials.  When the girls would jump off the platform, Maddie would point and say "dat".  When the girls landed their dive, Maddie let out an "ooh".  And when the people in attendance would clap for the divers, Maddie clapped right along with them.

Might be getting ahead of myself here, but...keep your eyes open for a future Team USA diving star.

In other Maddie related news: the little gal is approaching toddler status fast.  She's getting more and more comfortable letting go while cruising and taking a few choppy steps with no assistance.  This is good news.  It means that me and Sugar Britches are going to need the reflexes of a ninja, but good news nonetheless.

I will watch out for her.... In years to come ....Team USA....I think your right ...

The next phase is not too far away ...

At least you will lose some weight ...you will never be still...lol....

Any treasured procession,s....high up...

Poor Cash ....he will run and hide ...👍

Maddie's first birthday is Tuesday, the 22nd of June.  However, with an event of this magnitude you get the festivities started early.  We're having a birthday bash here at Boo Acres tomorrow.  There will be cake and ice cream.  There will be grilled meats for the adults.  There will be presents.  There will be at least four children under the age of 3 years-old in attendance...things could get a bit crazy at this party.

The Birthday Girl will be receiving many presents tomorrow.  We probably overdid it, but I don't regret it...she's worth it.  Sugar Britches and I agree that Maddie's favorite gift will likely be her new Radio Flyer Walker Wagon.  Miss Maddie already getting a new set of wheels for her birthday...

Oh !!!!....

She will love this ....putting her toys in ...taking it out again ....

Getting the party started early is a great idea .....

Have fun on the Boo Bonanza.....

How quickly this year has gone ....Love to all ❤️

new Radio Flyer Walker Wagon

OMG, they make Radio Flyer in a walker wagon now.  They must have updated it just for our precious little Maddie.  The Radio Flyer has sure passed the test of time.  My children and and grandchildren had them.

Happy Birthday Sweet girl.  Party Hearty today is your special day!

@Mee, the radio flyer wagon brings back bad memories for me of my twin brother cutting his Achilles tendon on the tongue of it as he was pulling it behind him. He spent months in a cast and then a special braced shoe. I'm so glad to see it redesigned!

That is awful.  That is a hard one to heal.  I bet it was tough for a little boy.  I wonder if others had that happen and it should have been recalled.

@mee, I'm sure it probably did happen too other kids just back then our parents probably chocked it up to kid error and not bad design. It'd be interesting to know though......Glad to see they changed it!
