I think most of it was attributable to a bit of a belly ache. She was just starting to calm down and then I changed her diaper. She got fussy all over again...Round 2. Maddie turns three-weeks-old today. We're celebrating the big occasion with a nap.
July 14, 20206 yr Aww Sweetheart .. You and the lovely Sugar Britches ... Must sleep when our Princess sleeps ...to charge your batteries.... Wow...three weeks already ...💕
July 16, 20206 yr Author Little Miss Maddie is doing well. Papa Boo has some concerns. To prevent diaper rash, we've been letting Maddie go au naturel at various time during the day. She kicks her little legs and moves her arms around when the diaper comes off. Then she gets fussy when it's time to put her clothes back on. Am I raising a little nudist?

An expert already. Did you ever think that life could be so wonderful. Maddie is such a lucky little girl!
July 18, 20206 yr commercial diapers, have a lot of chemicals in them. cloth diapers can have chemicals from laundry soap and drier sheets. all make life horrible for Maddie May's new little bum. also, washing soap, powders, creams may be a factor. I used cloth diapers for the most part and was careful with the soaps. nakedy is always the best solution.
July 18, 20206 yr Miss Maddie might be like Bird..being a summer bub the kid got happy free time and she was just like Maddie, hated the nappy going back on....toilet trained by 14mths, night trained by 18mths. I mixed it up with the nappies, mainly cloth but disposable when we went out..because it was easier. First time the parents babysat...I picked her up with the disposable on backwards and gaffer taped in place...they had never changed a disposable before.

July 23, 20206 yr Author We took Maddie in for her one month check up this morning. She's fit as a fiddle and growing like a weed. Maddie weighs in at over ten pounds now. Her feeding schedule is right on track. She eats, she poops, she repeats...my girl is like a well-oiled machine! The heart and lungs checked out well. Her reflexes are good. Her little belly button is healing up ahead of schedule. When the doctor laid her on the exam table, she started kicking her legs and flailing her arms around. If there's going to be a physical exam, my little gal wants to show how strong she is. Speaking of Maddie and her increasing strength levels, she is getting really good at holding her head up when she lays on her belly. That "tummy time" workout program is delivering results. There is just too much cuteness for me to report on it all here. For instance, my mother-in-law bought Maddie a little sun bonnet for when we take her outside for walks. It is ridiculous how cute she looks wearing that little hat. I guess what is really taking the cake in the cute department is that Maddie is starting to make some of those little baby noises. She will look at me or April when we talk to her and you can see her little mouth working. It's like she's trying to mimic us. Her vocabulary is limited to "oooh," "ahh," and the occasional "waah." She's got a lot on her mind but is only starting to figure out all the sounds she can make. Sugar Britches is doing well. She's feeling much better now physically and is absolutely over the moon with being a mother. People spend a lot of time talking about the challenges of being a parent, but the rewards make every bit of effort worth it and then some.

August 7, 20206 yr Author You only get so many of those moments...moments that hit you right in the core and get the feelings going. A moment you'll never forget. I had one of those moments last night. In the evenings, when we're all just kind of chilling out before bed, Maddie spends a lot of time laying on my chest. She lays her head there and pops up to look at me from time-to-time. A recurring bit has been for me to ask "Where's Maddie?" when she lays her head down. Then when she pops her head up again, I say "There she is! Hi Maddie." Pretty simple concept, it's just peak-a-boo in reverse. Last night she popped her head up and when I said "there she is!" she gave me a big smile. Then she did it again. I'm telling you...that smile on her little chubby face can light up any room. She was smiling again this morning. I'm not sure where she is insofar as understanding social cues, but I feel like she understands the positive response she gets from smiling. I'm overcome with emotions when the little gal smiles and Sugar Britches makes a sound that I can only describe as a high-pitch giggle when the girl smiles at her. Miss Maddie knows how to work a room. Cue up the cheesy 1980s power ballad...
August 8, 20206 yr Author Maddie went swimming for the first time today. Well...she didn't do a lot of swimming, but she did get in the pool. She didn't really care for it at first, but eventually took to the water and seemed content. The little gal was a sight to see in her purple swimsuit with pink and yellow flowers on it and sporting her sunbonnet. I'm pretty sure I've already mentioned it, but that little girl is so cute it's ridiculous.
August 22, 20206 yr Author Miss Maddie turned two months old today. Happy Birthday to the cutest little girl in the world! Between the grandparents and the neighbors, we've got two birthday cakes and several cupcakes in the kitchen. Maddie is still on the breast milk and formula plan. Sugar Britches and me have had all the sweets we can stand for the day. If you're in the neighborhood, swing by the house and we'll give you a cake. Speaking of Maddie and eating, the little gal has had a growing spell over the last couple of weeks. She's getting chubby...has little rolls on her arms and legs. The birthday girl is down for a nap right now. Resting up from a big day of having everyone tell her how cute she is and how much they love her. There's worse ways to spend a day...
August 23, 20206 yr Wow ...How Fabulous .....A Big two months already .... Aww she is thriving ....and coming along a treat .... Now she just has to listen to a Train full of folks telling her she is a Princess.. Happy two months ...Little One .💕💕
September 1, 20206 yr Author 7 hours ago, Doreensfree said: Love this !!!!.....Get Maddie dancin ...❤❤❤ Maddie doesn't have any club moves yet and Papa Boo is in no position to teach anyone to dance. For the time being, Maddie is more comfortable down on the farm. We visited my Mom and Dad on Sunday at the family farm. She looked at the cows. Took a ride on the old Ford tractor. She helped pick peaches, she was fascinated by the way the peaches felt. She even wore a little pair of denim overalls for her day on the farm, which by the way, she looked incredibly cute in. A friend of mine that has horses has already invited Miss Maddie to his farm where she can learn to ride. She's only two-months old so we're gonna wait for a while until we get her in the saddle.

September 6, 20205 yr Author Maddie went on her first hiking trip this morning. We took advantage of the perfect weather we're having here this weekend and went over to Laurel-Snow this morning. We did an easy three miles out-and-back along Richland Creek. Maddie was very content out on the trails and Papa Boo had a great day with his newest hiking buddy. Sugar Britches was extremely happy to get back out on the trail as well. Between pregnancy and the demands of a newborn, there hasn't been much time for outdoor recreation. Cash got to run around in the woods, play in the creek, and he had a ham bone waiting for him when we got home...that's pretty much a perfect day for him. It was a good day for the Boo Crew.
