If this was ancient Rome, and you emerged from behind the iron gate the veteran gladiator , my money would be on you ! The video nailed it. Exactly. The mind fog. I was holding a cup of coffee in my left hand, was asked what time it was, spilled the coffee in my lap looking at my watch. I am now on board with the juice principle. The preemptive blood sugar control approach. I will start this tomorrow. Wish me luck. You and this message board are a powerful thing. Rome...doesn't stand a chance ! It is indeed, a good day to be free ! Thank You my new friends !! I am no different than you. We are all nicotine addicts. Understand the addiction, be willing to live through the temporary changes. Emerge a free person. We have your back. S
July 16, 20197 yr Author Your dedication to this battle and assistance to others is far from ordinary. It needs to be recognized, appreciated and duplicated by the rest of us addicts. Keep up the good fight S !

But I digress.....Thanks again, Boo. The fog is real in those early days. One morning early in my quit, I felt like I was forgetting something. Something wasn't quite right. Following a brief period of deliberative thought, I realized I should probably put some pants on before going to work. Now that the fog has cleared I almost never forget to wear pants. Almost never....
July 16, 20197 yr I used to think of it as a new experience - like going on a spaceship. If spaceship doesn't excite you then you can substitute 'vacation to an exotic destination'. The idea is you're experiencing something new and unique (without spending a cent) going where you haven't gone before. Enjoy the brain fog while you can - it'll soon be gone.
July 16, 20197 yr Welcome aboard, Eight-Toe Joe. That is a great name, by the way. What you are going through is normal for many quitters but the long term benefits of quitting smoking definitely outweigh the short-term issues like brain fog. You've already been given a lot of great advice but you can get a lot of advice and support here. Stick around. We all want you to put smoking behind you for good. You will be glad you did.
July 16, 20197 yr Hey eight toe Joe, just wanted to let you know that the 2019 quitters call themselves the ash kickers. Here's the logo if you'd like to put it in your signature We also have tickers for your signature that keep track of the time, money saved and cigarettes not smoked since you quit. It's super motivating and will also show you what you stand to lose should you cave to a crave. You can find the tab to create one at the top of the forum
July 16, 20197 yr Author d2e8b8... I LOVE IT ! embrace the fog....become the fog !! I'm on it !! johnny5...I was looking for a place crazy enough to accept me as a member. Unfortunately for you, it appears to be here with you guys. I apologize now for the many times I will no doubt offend you in the future. Thanks for welcoming me! jillar ...From an ash kicker to a butt kicker ,we appear to be quite awesome! Thank you for all the help today. I feel so comfortable here. My chances of success has increased by an ash kicking amount !
July 16, 20197 yr What an awesome thread to start my day with, although I am sure the others on my train are wonder just what on earth has me laughing like a loon. It's always great to have another Jo/e ... We're a special breed that's for sure and everyone's lives are so much better for having us in them...although I want a pirate name too now... So my brain fog seemed to last forever but I think in hindsight (such a wonderfully useless thing) that it was prolonged by using NRT and it didn't really clear until I'd flicked that too. I also tend to be a bit scatty anywho. Juice is a magical elixir, I reckon pineapple juice is the way to go. Now just promise us one thing, you think you're at the point were ya gunna chuck ya quit post an SOS and committ to reading 4 responses before doing anything stupid like putting a burning coffin nail in ya gob. Welcome... You got this mate!
July 16, 20197 yr Author notsmokinjo _-- Two Jo/e's are six times better than one Jo/e. I read that in a book.....that I wrote....just now. Thanks for the support,Mate. When you're walking through the gates of Hell......you need every Jo to walk with you. It's just better. Pineapple juice it will be ! I will send up a flare if in trouble. From a Joe up over to a Jo down under, Thanks Mate ! Edited July 16, 20197 yr by Eight-Toe Joe

Stay close to the board, we are all rooting for you and hope your quit will be a successful one. Don't forget to take things a day at a time, the NOPE pledge will help with that. All the best!!!
July 17, 20197 yr Welcome Joe, I stayed on the Train and read all that I could. If you don't know what to do, don't do anything!! Just ride out all that you are feeling and going thru. This process right here is taking me some place marvelous!!! and I've got to stay on to get to that place!!!! Don't let anything come between YOU and that marvelous place!!! A NONSMOKER!!!! Happy Quitting You are a nonsmoker RIGHT NOW!!!!
July 17, 20197 yr Author Ankush- Thank you so much for the warm greeting ! The helpful advice and motivation on this site is amazing. Every time I have failed in the past ,it has taught me something new about this journey and about myself. This time ,I am accepting nothing less than total freedom from this drug. I am armed with knowledge, realistic expectations, perseverance, commitment, and inner strength. Now I have found the last piece of the puzzle. A support group of decent, caring people who understand the struggle. I am so very grateful . QueenB- Ok......you have such a wonderful attitude about this ! I agree totally ! I have learned to " Just Ride The Wave" , don't do anything. I'm experienced enough in trying to quit, to know that there are times when all the advice and positive vibe may not be enough, but just knowing how sneaky and powerful this drug addiction can be is empowering. This time, I'M READY! BRING IT !
July 17, 20197 yr This thread, The Weird Things I Did To Quit Smoking may be helpful. The point being is you can do most anything except smoke. Remember to reward yourself for every crave beaten, every trigger conquered this assists in re-configuring your brain. The rewards can be v. simple. A big beautiful breath of oxygen ! Gazing at something beautiful.

July 17, 20197 yr Let me share something...…. During one of my many craving episodes( you will have them), I could feel it coming.... I didn't want to eat anything, I didn't want to read anything, I didn't want anything but for the craving to stop! I sat on the side of my bed and grab the back of my head and rocked until that crap passed(and they do)! The whole time my husband is standing in the doorway watching me! I shrugged my shoulders and said. "that was all I knew to do" we laughed and that was the end of that craving...... So what did we learn(In my mother voice) We do whatever we can, however we can, whenever we can not to take another puff!!! Be encouraged Joe if I can do this so can YOU!!!!
July 17, 20197 yr You can spend time in the games threads...they are heaps of fun...except the stupid sticks and chicks game..there is no point playing that one it would just be a waist of ya time.
