  1. I had a couple of false starts and one major relapse. Each time I came back more determined to be done for good. Don't give up. You have completely re-awakened the addiction, but you can but it back to bed. Yes, smoking sucks. Be done.

  8. Yeah, quit picking on me. I'm sensitive. haha :sarcastic_blum:
  9. Welcome Carlos!!! Such a great decision you have made! I love your note, but for me, having smokes around was not a good idea at all. I started a list of all the benefits and reasons to not smoke and kept it on my phone. I loved this because I could add to it anytime and check it out if I needed a reminder. Also, I love your goals! You will achieve all of these when you stop smoking - and so many more! Call me shallow, but vanity was a big motivator for me as well, not only did I stink and look stupid smoking, but my teeth were yellowing, and I was getting those wrinkles around my mouth. I was skinny in an unhealthy way. ICK!!! I feel so much better now, healthy, strong and that nagging cough/throat clearing is gone! I used to work in sales and I was so embarrassed when I would have to clear my throat - that is GONE now!!! Also the freedom you gain gives you so much inner strength and self-confidence, which it sounds like would serve you well in your work. We'd love to hear how your quit is going and be here to support you!
  10. Super cool! I should get my son one of those. Personally, I have no patience for that. lol.

  15. Hey...... Blaming me behind my back, I see???
  16. I am also late, but CONGRATULATIONS!!! Two years is so AWESOME! I love the visualization - did that a lot when the romanticizing tried to kick in. I would "virtually" smoke and take in all the ugliness about smoking. I am so happy we made this decision for ourselves. Even the tough moments are so totally worth being free! :)

  22. Welcome!!! You have made such an awesome decision. Read a ton. Stay on the Board as often as you can in the beginning. Ask for support - we are here and we love to help!! My kids are growing athletes too, and it feels great to be a non-smoking fan! I also feel better and more energetic and healthier! There are only benefits to quitting - not one single benefit to smoking - Not one!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
