  1. Congratulations on 2 years nicotine-free, Gus! Amazing how time flies, right! Keep the quit! It's easy now! ☺
  2. Congratulations on 2 years smoke free, Amy! That's huge! You're on the gravy train now...no need to ever smoke again! Just be on guard for urges at major events and life-changes, and you should be home free! Woohoo!
  3. Congratulations on 7 months smoke free, Overcome! You are nearly 3/4 through the year! Fantastic job and just keep going! It gets easier and easier with each month!
  4. Way to go, Catlover! Congratulations on 5 years no ciggies! I bet it still feels awesome when you realize you don't have to go stand out in the weather and take a smoke break!! Life without cigs really is grand!
  5. Congratulations on 6 years quit, Reciprocity!! That's a lot of dough saved!! Woohoo!!
  6. Happy New Year Quit Train Gang! Just thought I'd post a quickie while I still can! I keep losing access to my account for months at a time for reasons I don't know of, which is why I don't come here often anymore LOL. Well Jan. 17 was year 3 cigarette and nicotine free for me. Yippee! And close to $5,000 saved to boot, woohoo! Congratulations to all you quitter-winners whose anniversaries I've seen roll by but I couldn't respond because my account was locked. Being active in the forum was so helpful for me in the first year of quitting. Now in year 3, I see how dedicated the regulars are in helping newbies go through their quits. Really a great group! Well, Happy 2023 and may it be an awesome one after the past 3 years of junk on junk. Thanks also for the condolences.
  7. Hey Darcy! I don't come here much anymore after losing access to my account more times than I can count haha but really good to see you got right back on your quit after falling off. Great job, and keep up the awesome work minute by minute! Most of us relapse at least once when quitting. Never beat yourself up for relapsing, just analyze why it happened and get a strategy to prevent that type of 'reason' from 'relapsing you' again. One day you will have put all the 'reasons' to bed and be done with relapsing for good, and that day may already be upon you! Woohoo! Believe that you are stronger than the addiction, because you truly are! Keep winning every battle to steadily build up your confidence, and watch the days, weeks and months worth of breath and money saved just keep piling up! Congrats, Darcy, on getting right back on the horse and knowing that you will prevail!
  8. Hi Denali, I'm so sorry you suffered a death in your family. I hope the pain of loss is not overwhelming, your family and friends are close & supportive, and you can all comfort and strengthen each other as you move through this very sad chapter. Once you hit the year mark, you will have done all the daily and cyclical / seasonal things without nicotine for the first time in so many years (first Christmas, first birthday, etc). But other events that dont happen once a year can still trip you up, so be on guard for those. It sounds like you are steadfast in your quit but are just irritated by the urges. They will get fainter and fainter with time. It also helps to remember that urges come and go, events and occurrences are here today and already in the past tomorrow, but your lungs & breath are with you for the duration. You want to be toting around some good lungs, so that you have good breath, and that exquisite freedom, all of your days. May you persevere through this rough time, nicotine-free every day and each day a step closer to being 100% free from this terrible addiction's grasp. All the best for a brighter 2023.
  9. Hang in there, Linda! Protect your quit like your life depends on it. When everything around you is going to heck, it's one good thing you've got, right? Another challenge come to try and take your quit away from you. Stay strong and hold on tight to your quit! Hope the rough waters settle down for you soon.
  10. Nope di nope di nope! Merry Christmas all! I got myself locked out of the forum somehow; just got back in. Still smoke free. Missed everyone!

  13. Great job 11better11 and congratulations on taking your life back! Keep it up and you will have a month behind you in no time! The first weeka are hard but you can do it!!!! Use the information in this board to keep you motivated. I highly recommend the Joel Spitzer videos to keep you centered on your goal. Keep up the great work!
  14. After reading the funny jokes thread... ROFLOL laughing w/o having a coughing fit!
  15. Freedom from Nicotine was one of the first online resources I found. I used a lot of that information when putting together my quit plan, so thank you so much @JohnRPolito. Kate those dreams sure are weird. Yes I take them as confirmation that I do NOT want to start back up, and they just remind me how crappy and disppointrd in myself I would feel if I did.
  16. Haven't done it yet, but I'm sure Ill enjoy being able to sit through a 7 hour plane ride w/o having a nic fit or resorting to nicotine gum. Overall a healthier mouth for sure!! I also enjoy not having to go outside in inclement weatthwr just to feed my addiction. Love the absence of nicotine off-gas smell in my house, bathroom and towels. Very subtle if you are careful about fully emptying your lungs outside after smoking, but still there! Also love telling people I dont smoke!
  17. Wow Doreen, 9 years is mega! Congratulations on making and sticking to your smoke-free commitment!!!! Hope you treated yourself to something special. Thank you also so much for your unwavering presence and support here on the train. You have helped me immensely!
  18. Hi Linda! Welcome back on board! Sorry you relapsed but way to go getting back on right away!! You're still so much better off than you were 2 years ago in terms of smmoking, so just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Glad you're back!!!+
  19. Congratulations on 6 years, Jillar! I hope you are breathing easily! Thank you sincerely for all your support of me and all the other awesome quitters here on The Train! Thanks bunches and munches.....
  20. Happy 20, Christian! Way to go! I'd be interested to know if smoking totally turns you off or if you can tolerate smokers around you, or if you still like the smell, ever get a crave after all this time, etc.
  21. Wow I missed it! Congratulations on 2 years quit Kate! This is huge!! Way to go.....keep going its getting so much easier!!
  22. Yes keep on quitting no matter how many quits it takes!
  23. Oh Kate, so sorry for your troubles. Hopefully it's nothing terrible like you are fearing. Great job guarding your quit in the meantime. Hope you have people around you physically to support you when you need it. And yes we are here to support you virtually. Try not to ruminate too hard while you go through the testing process. Best of luck and much strength to you. You got this regardless!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
